Meet Carnita Jones of Nu Star Maker Performing Arts & Talent Management in Powder Springs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carnita Jones.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Carnita. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started my business ten years ago to create career and management opportunities for performers in the growing Georgia entertainment industry.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road for most of our clients. We work with a high percentage of clients who are just getting their start in the entertainment industry and the established entertainer or production group that require our entertainment management services. There are a lot of really talented artist in Georgia that are wanting, looking and needing breakthrough opportunities. We happily provide management, career guidance, educational and edutainment opportunities for our clients from project development, branding, creating productions and event/venue entertainment management. We organize and develop each client’s strategic goal plans to reflect and achieve their intended outcomes.

Nu Star Maker Performing Arts & Talent Management – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We happily provide management, career guidance, educational and edutainment opportunities for our clients from project development, branding, creating productions and event/venue entertainment management. We organize and develop each client’s goals to reflect and achieve their intended outcomes. We are very proud of contracting with the City of Powder Springs and creating the Production Partner Program that we established two years ago, With the support of Mayor Al Thurman and the City Council, they have graciously provided production companies with the opportunity to utilize the Vaughn Cultural Arts Center.

What sets Nu Star Maker apart from others is that we clearly understand that the local performing artist should not be forgotten and that they need a hand up and not a handout. We are a for profit business that spends a great deal of our time and resources giving back to the community. We reached out to young playwrights interested in producing original theater works utilizing the Patricia C. Vaughn Cultural Arts Center, we organized and developed the beautiful 220 seat facilities black box theater to host concerts, dinner theater, edutainment programs for actors, dancers, vocalist age 6 and up, created a community theater by joining the American Association of Community Theater, hosting several local school plays, church productions, a National Jury Art Exhibit and a National Dance Audition for the next aspiring dancer hoping to be chosen by Filmmakers Michael and Janeen Damian for their next film in the High Strung Dance Series Production.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I have a proud moment attack everyday! When my little five years old dance student sends me a video showing me she can finally tie up her tap shoes, watching my oldest daughter create some of the most beautifully choreographed dance movement pieces imaginable, watching my youngest daughter dance her modern solo we created together and singing her solo in a musical production, watching parents and students smile and cry at the same time when they read acceptance letters to the Debbie Allen Dance Intensives or The Four -Year training program in New York for the Jeoffrey Ballet or the Four-Year Scholarship to Reinhardt University Academics and Musical Theater Department, the long drive to New York because your 10 year old client/dance student has to be at an audition for the role of Young Simba in “The Lion King” , the call from Disney Theatrical Group on a Monday morning asking you if your client/student from Powder Springs, Ga would be interested in performing on Broadway as Young Simba for the next year or so…love it!
