Monetia Smothers, also known as ‘Monetia, the Model’, is a Model, Award-Nominated Actress, T.V. Personality Spokesmodel, Brand Ambassador and Talk Show Host. In 2018, she was crowned Ms. Full Figure Georgia. Monetia has worked in the Fashion and Movie industry for over 10 years. She has modelled for Haute Couture Fashion houses like @Elitepourlavie and @Vanmillerinternational and is currently a Runway Model for Media Personality and Fashion designer Lisa Nicole Cloud Brand @BossCollection. Her recent film and tv appearances include The Staff (2019) as Dynasty (February 2019), B.E.T. Tales Moonlight (March 2019) and BET+ Bigger (2019). Monetia is also part of an upcoming Docuseries airing on the Fox Network and has Billboard advertising the new series “Why do I want to be a Model” Host Vanessa Henderson Monetia was recently nominated in 2019 for Best Actress and Best Brand Ambassador , Best Full-Figured Model and Best Show/Event Host at Atlanta’s Hottest Entertainment Awards. Monetia is also a member of ‘No More’ (Say No to Domestic Violence) and recognized by the organization P.O.W.E.R. Professional Organization of Women.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, it has not been a smooth road. Some of the struggles I went through was self confidence, loving and accepting myself for who I am. And realizing i’m just as worthy as anyone else to be happy and successful. Even though many people see me today and say oh she is beautiful. But I had to believe it myself. And when I was diagnosed with some medical illnesses I had to build the confidence and say to myself medical illness doesn’t make the person. It’s not who I am. Many people don’t understand or know the struggles we go through as a single parent, business owner, model, and actress. It takes a lot of self-confidence to display yourself to the world. And being considered a full figured model makes it even tougher. But, i’m here and now very happy with myself, and I believe beauty comes from within. When your inner beauty shines through then, you become the most beautiful of all.
Please tell us about your work.
I am Ms Full Figured Georgia 2018. I’m a Model, Actress and influencer. As Ms Full Figured Georgia 2018 one thing that stole my heart is going around to the schools and talking to children. Encouraging them to be amazing. I believe children is our future and the most authentic of all. I just recently spoke at Baycreek Middle school. Talking to them about how important it is to continue school and they all spoke about there careers they wanted to have when they were older. I encouraged them to achieve all there goals it’s important to begin now by finishing there work paying attention and listening to there teacher . They all sent me and some other speakers I had as guest thank you letters. I think what set me apart from others is I don’t believe in competition. I feel there’s enough for all of us to get ahead. What isn’t for one person will be for another. I think we should all celebrate each other. There’s so much love to go around. There’s too much competition in this world. We tear each other down for one thing when there’s no need.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I would have taken Modeling and Acting more seriously when I first started in 2010. I would have taken classes earlier. But I certainly don’t regret where I am now. I’m grateful and appreciative of all God has sent my way. I’m Grateful for everyone he has allowed in my life.
