Meet Nakeemi Hawkins of Fabulous Faces

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nakeemi Hawkins.

Fabulous Faces was a hidden talent discovered by owner and operator Mrs. Nakeemi Hawkins. Nakeemi started a career working as a full time Licensed Cosmetologist for nearly 10 years. Fashion and beauty was always her inspiration as it inspired her to pursue a career as a Cosmetologist. After settling down following her marriage and the birth of her first born, Nakeemi later became a stay at home mother of two. With the passion for art, fashion and beauty, she’d never imagine pursuing a career as a face and body artist. Nakeemi started doing research of paints and products that were safe for the skin, and began practicing painting herself and her children. She later began to volunteer face painting at her children schools, festivals, and family and friends’ birthday parties. Since then, many doors have opened for Nakeemi and she has become known to many Corporate clients, and repetitive clients who greatly appreciate her gifts. Fabulous Faces has been successful within the 8 years of its establishment.

Today, Nakeemi of Fabulous Faces offer superior face and body painting services in all of Atlanta GA and surrounding cities. The company have over 8 years’ experience in entertaining and are well known to many Corporate Clients. The quality of her work and passion for the arts is what makes her company unique. Above all else, Fabulous Faces can accommodate for large groups in very little time. Her speed and outstanding work is what sets her apart from many others.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As any small business, there were a couple of stumbling blocks in the beginning. One of my challenges when I first started my business was gaining the exposure to build a clientele. At that time there was less than a hand full of local face and body artists, so this did not call for much competition. As I began to grow and gain exposure, there were more people pursuing their business in the same industry. When this happened, I started educating myself in more advanced face and body art lessons. Later, I gradually increased my prices. This was another difficult time for me as many clients was not comfortable paying the new rate. For a while, I was at the old rate but there were majority of clients who would actually pay the new rate and be appreciative of my services.

Please tell us about Fabulous Faces.
