Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenneth Presley.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Kenneth. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Allora Studios is a project that I started during my time studying abroad in Italy in 2014. It started mostly as a collaboration project with a few friends back home. We would find interesting subjects and make videos and take pictures. Originally, it was designed to be more of a production studio for cinematography, but as time went on, it became apparent to me that my passion was for taking pictures and learning about cultures and languages.
When I met my fiancee, Amanda, it wasn’t long before the travel bug had invected us both. We decided that after graduation, it would be time to put all of our skills and resources into traveling full-time.
Unfortunately, that won’t be for a few years. Until then, we will be publishing our travel blog that focuses on the history of places and some of the world’s best travel destinations.
Outside of the travel aspect, my business does portraits and commercial photography. I really enjoy taking pictures and helping capture important moments in people’s lives.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Well, it’s always hard to start a new business. Through the years, my art has had to take a backseat to other ventures, like school and work. Fortunately, there’s always been this drive for me to expand and focus all of my free time on what I love. My fiancee has really been a game changer for the business. Having a support system that truly believes in you is one of the most vital aspects of owning your own business.
Allora Studios – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My favorite aspect of my production studio is my travel blog. It’s my baby. I love every piece of it. I love traveling, plane rides, train rides, road trips, etc. I love architectural photography and shooting around new cities. I love finding those things that most tourists overlook and shining a light on it so that others can see the “hidden gems” of the world. I really want to teach my readers about why things are the way they are and the time and work that went into sites like the Colosseum or the canals in Venice, etc.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success as achieving your goal. For me, it would be a successful trip around the world where we get to see as much of the world as possible while also learning as much as possible about the sites and the people so that I can bring all of that knowledge back home to my readers.
