Today we’d like to introduce you to Yvonne Rosegarden.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Yvonne. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am an indigenous love healer. My first teachers were my grandmothers: Martha, a Black Native of Saponi, Chickasaw and African heritages; and Viola, a Choctaw Louisiana Creole, two amazing women who taught me loving hands touch medicine and plant remedies.
I later studied indigenous ritual and ceremony in Costa Rica, Brazil; Curanderismo (Mexican folk healing), and completed a traditional western massage therapy program including Swedish, Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular Therapy, Thai massage on the table and reflexology.
I am the healer of my generation in my family, and finally embraced my vocation full time six years ago, after a career of planning and managing international cultural and educational events and conferences.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been interesting. The biggest challenge was the rebranding…for the people I knew to accept that I was determined to live my life’s purpose, purposely and with focus.
In the past, each time I decided to focus on healing, a different opportunity was presented that tempted me away from my purpose, but I kept coming back to the healing.
Because of my detours, it has taken more than a few years to build my practice!
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Redmelanin represents who I am culturally and by heritage — an indigenous Black woman and reflects the healing I offer, which is informed by my experiences.
I specialize in “Soul Prescription Journeys,” which addresses the wellness of body and soul with “(r)evolutionary touch”— a combination of learned massage therapies; I also utilize music therapy, curating a custom Playlist for each session; aromatherapy; affirmations of love and compassion, with themes of freedom and decolonization in every session.
Holding ceremony for individuals and groups such as healing circles, energy cleanses, and ritual foot baths is a very important aspect of my work. I carefully custom blend the organic oils I apply to the body, while incorporating rose quartz crystal water in my healing practice to help infuse love throughout the body as well as throughout the experience.
Assisting people through positive transformations…whether the healing is of a physical or soul nature, or both gives me great joy! It is an honor to be a healing partner to teachers: the activists, artists, caregivers, and healers which helps to amplify and multiply positive transformations throughout the greater collective community, the world!
I am very proud of my process and what I offer for the full self…which is always presented authentically and emphatically with love!
I am known for promoting a love vibration, which I find my clients value very highly.
What were you like growing up?
I have always been an old soul who loves to laugh, travel…am a lifelong lover of music, dancing and reading books.
I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area—born in Oakland, and grew up in East Palo Alto and San Jose. I moved to Europe at 19, lived in Vienna, Austria, and then Paris, France. I started my career in events logistics working music, cultural and arts festivals, then planning and managing international educational conferences throughout the world, in Africa, Europe, South, Central and North Americas, and the Caribbean. Always interested in the healing arts and cultural practices of the people, communities, and countries I’ve visited.
