Today we’d like to introduce you to TiQuintin Morrell.
Hi TiQuintin, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Former Georgia Golden Glove Champion and Division 1A football player. After working dead-end jobs or jobs that didn’t fulfill me spiritually. I began working with the Frederick Douglass High School Football team about ten years ago for no pay. Working with them and helping them grow was enough for me. It felt good to my spirit. I knew then that helping people was my purpose. I had spent my entire childhood and young adult life involved in sports. When I realized that physically my body was not going to hold up at the professional level because of so many previous major injuries… I fell into depression. Not knowing what I wanted, not being certain about my future. When I saw those young men working out by themselves, it touched me. They wanted to learn, and no one was there to teach them. So I would watch them work their hearts out even if they were practicing wrong and just reminisce my playing days when I had no help. So I swallowed my pride and passed down the knowledge I had to them. They became way better and their Head Coach noticed. They offered me a job. So now I’m a trainer so I can reach everyone and not just one school. Hopefully, I can have a positive impact on the world.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Not smooth at all. It took about nine years for my big break with TITLE Boxing. You have to build a fan base with your results. I wasn’t known in the city for training. I haven’t won a championship in Atlanta in over 20 years no one remembered me. So I got back into it. Training myself with my old boxing workouts. I would go to different boxing gyms and spar everyone until I earned their respect as a boxing coach. Seeing is believing. So I made them all a believer. What motivates me is being the last of four brothers to be alive. Last of my deceased fathers bloodline. Carrying on with and for my two children. Building a foundation for them and many generations down the line.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
