Today we’d like to introduce you to Lyndsay Wrensen.
Lyndsay Wrensen earned her B.S. in Psychology and B.A. in Sociology from The University of Georgia and her Master’s degree in Industrial & Organizational Psychology from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She was awarded the Dan Mack Scholarship Award for exceptional performance in academia and in the field of Industrial/Organizational Psychology and has several presentations/interactive poster sessions to her credit. While obtaining her Master’s, she was a Human Resources Manager and full-time graduate assistant. After graduating at the top of her class, she worked as a consultant for a top corporate psychology/management consulting firm in Atlanta for several years. She then moved to California, where she worked for Cisco Systems, specializing in leadership development, talent development, and assessments and metrics. Meanwhile, she was writing her dissertation for a Ph.D. program in Organizational Psychology.
During this time, she was an active member in several professional organizations in her field as well as The Junior League, and she placed the fourth runner up in The Ms. America Pageant, with her platform being anti-human trafficking. Later in life, Ms. Wrensen moved to Jacksonville, Florida, after facing a series of challenges. She later became a Licensed Minister through Logos Global Network and entered the Faith-based non-profit realm fighting human trafficking. She worked in the mental health field conducting clinical assessments while volunteering with a non-governmental organization (NGO) rescuing victims of human trafficking with tactical teams. She later served as The International Director of Victim Services for two partner nonprofits and later as the Executive Director of a Managed Organization in this arena for an International 501c3. During this time, she was a national speaker and advocated in this arena. Ms. Wrensen is also a survivor and has a passion for assisting other survivors.
Since childhood, Lyndsay has been actively involved in music and acting. She began training and performing as a vocalist as a very young child and became a part of a traveling performing arts group. Singing competitively as an adolescent eventually led her into modeling, pageantry, and acting.
Later in life, in addition to commercial and TV/Film work, Ms. Wrensen hosted live events on various television shows and at venues and hosted a show focused on music in California. She later filmed a pilot that landed her several co-host roles on several television shows. However, acting and music remained a hobby until she returned to Atlanta years later after facing hardship. After leading worship at her church and releasing several singles as a recording artist, Ms. Wrensen felt led to pursue her childhood dream of artistic endeavors. She immersed herself in the arts for several years, working freelance positions in the meantime. She became actively involved with American Immersion Theater and has now performed hundreds of shows doing improvisation and atmospheric work for various clients live and virtually. She also worked as full-time as a stand-in on a popular show while auditioning and acting for various projects.
Lyndsay is currently represented in the Southeast Region by East Coast Talent and Productions Plus in Detroit, Chicago, and Los Angeles. She finished filming her first feature lead as “Darby” in the movie, Rock-A-Bye, in 2020. She played a singer and was able to write and perform one of her own songs in the film, which she later released as a single. She is currently filming her second full feature co-lead in a non-union project. In addition to working as an actress, Ms. Wrensen produced, wrote, and directed The Pursuit of Justice in 2019, a film in which she portrayed a detective who urged a young woman to “be the voice” as an advocate in the fight against human trafficking. She is currently filming another production she wrote and is also co-directing, Colorful, which is scheduled to be completed this May. The film is based on a time period of her life where she felt torn between pursuing her dreams as an artist and balancing this with other passions, constraints, obligations, and responsibilities. It is a story of unity, collaboration, love, and finding your path in life.
When time permits, she serves as a host on a podcast called, The Creative Flow Show. She enjoys hearing inspirational stories of others who share her passions and is an advocate for the Arts. Ms. Wrensen is heavily involved in the TV/film community in the Atlanta area, where she receives ongoing training in addition to periodically working with a coach in Los Angeles. She has served as a teaching assistant when her coach conducts workshops in the Atlanta area. Lyndsay was selected to perform for the Women in Film and TV Atlanta Talent Showcase (WIFTA) and is a certified film and screenplay judge with Cinema Life Film Festivals. She is also a member of the International Thespian Society.
When the Pandemic hit, all her employment was on hold as she primarily worked on large sets, productions, venues, athletic arenas, and conference centers. Ms. Wrensen decided to take this time to complete and publish her first book, Salt Water: A Memoir of Remembrance, which had been a ten-year project she simply had no had the opportunity to complete due to a busy schedule! Geared towards females in their younger years, Salt Water is an inspirational memoir based on some of the trials she faced as a teen and young adult.
She also launched Living Life Fully Alive, LLC, where she serves as a motivational speaker. She has recently added life coaching services to her own business and works as a freelance Life and Business Coach with another organization. She feels her calling in life is to assist women with visioneering, discovering their true purpose and identity, and developing and implementing action-oriented goals to reach their full potential in various facets of life using her background in leadership development, life coaching, mental health, and corporate psychology consulting. Beyond her achievements, Lyndsay Wrensen is a fervent believer in connecting with Kingdom-minded creatives who share the same desire to use their talents to serve Christ, open eyes, and deliver powerful messages that positively impact society. She is a visionary with a heart to help others along their journey, using her talents, skills, and personal experiences to motivate, encourage, and assist others in doing the same. Lyndsay is also very fond of Health, Wellness, and Fitness. She enjoys yoga, dance, clean eating, resistance training, and exploring new activities that keep her physically fit. She recently became a radio host with Victory 91.5, a Christian radio ministry based in Atlanta. You can listen to her on-air by downloading the MOR Music app in your app store or by going to https://victory.radio/.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not! You name it, I have likely faced it! I am so blessed to have received endless encouragement and love from countless others during some of the darkest times of my life. My first book shares many of the hardships and struggles I faced in my younger years. I chose to be very raw and honest in my writing. In the future, I am planning a second book as well. I am a firm believer that we each walk through struggles to assist others along their personal journey. I think it is our job as individuals to share our personal stories to reach others, which is exactly why I was led to write this book. Even though someone may appear one way on paper or by outside appearances, that does not mean it is reality! I am beyond blessed to have the empathy I have today because of what I walked through and overcame. I share some of the struggles of my younger years at the following links: https://www.livinglifefullyalive.com/books https://www.livinglifefullyalive.com/anti-human-trafficking-speaking
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I do life coaching and freelance Management/Corporate Psychology Consulting. The Pandemic forced me to utilize other skill sets that I had in my tool bucket, and I am excited about the investments I have made and continue to make in my personal business! My consulting/corporate credentials are listed here: https://www.
I am most proud of my first book; a ten-year project that finally came to fruition! https://www.livinglifefullyalive.com/books What sets me apart from others: I have a very wide and diverse skill set and am a natural leader and motivator! The combination of my creativity, passion for others, intellect, and life experience (trials, as well as successes – I refuse to use the word “failures” because I see those as “feedback” for the future!) has given me a very broad perspective. This is helpful as both a creative and as an entrepreneur. It has also allowed me to be of assistance to others in various capacities- those from all walks of life- as well as increase my empathy and reasoning skills.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Resilience and determination. It’s ironic; I remember being asked this same question during the interview portion of my high school pageant the year that I won. My answer was “determination.” It is so true, though… continuing to move forward regardless of circumstances is what has carried me through the toughest of times! That developed my resilience and leadership skills beyond what academia or a C-level position could ever provide. Also, God is the one who has led me to where I am today. My faith is very important to me. It became so strong after facing an unknown health issue that caused me to practically be bed-ridden for two years. It was miraculous healing that started and ended almost overnight. In addition to prayer and faith, doing what I loved as a creative (i.e. music, performing, writing, and acting) was a large part of my healing. (I am more athletic and energetic today than I was at 15! I also later discovered a big part of the “unknown” health issue I faced and was healed from in 2016 was food allergies! Health and Wellness are a huge part of my daily routine.)
