Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Jackson.
Hi Ashley, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a 33-year-old entrepreneur from Montgomery, AL, wife, and mother of two. My beginning is so much different from where I am now! I started my career in the military at age 18 after I decided to stop attending high school. I was always smart, but I always found myself in trouble and suspended. After a string of suspensions, failing grades, and not being able to graduated on time, I decided to get my GED. I enlisted in the Army shortly after. When I say it’s not about how you start, it’s all about how you finish (I can stand firmly on that), I’m a living & breathing testimony! I can stop right there! I started my business in 2017 after realizing a problem that I wanted to be a solution to.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being an entrepreneur is not easy, but the reward is so worth it. Some challenges that I faced early on where those of the mind. I had to do a total mindset shift! Being in the Military for 12 years, you were told what to do, what time to be on duty, etc. I doubted and second-guessed myself a lot! In my own business, it’s just me! I’m making the rules, I’m determining my pay, I’m setting the hours, and I’m the face! During my startup, I prayed heavily and my mindset started to shift. I’m four years in and I’m couldn’t be more happy that I betted on ME!

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
When I started my business in 2017, I broke out in a full-on sprint and I found myself overworked and unable to maintain that work-life balance. The most important lesson that I’ve learned along the way is that this is a marathon, not a sprint. I take small steps daily that lead to big results.
