Daily Inspiration: Meet Blue Montana

Today we’d like to introduce you to Blue Montana.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up in Macon, GA, watching my family be involved in music. My uncle and cousin were artists, and my step-dad played the guitar in a jazz band. I realized very early on that I loved music. My dad bought me my first music recording set-up when I was in Middle School. I would create songs then go to the skating rink and try to get DJs to play my songs. By the time I went to college, music was just another hobby. I was making music for fun and promoting parties across campus. But after attended and dropping out of two different schools, I finally accepted that school just wasn’t for me. I was at a crossroads in my life and needed to make a decision. Deep down, I knew if I didn’t find an honest way to support myself, I would end up dead or in jail. So I turned to music full-time. In 2018, I dropped my first official album, “BluWop,” and have continued to hone my craft and build my brand ever since.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has definitely not been smooth. At times it has been difficult to find the time and energy to record, promote, and perform, all while trying to single-handedly finance my own career. I work with a small team, but we all carry a lot of weight.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I broke my way into the music scene in 2018 with the release of “BluWop.” This EP hosted my hit single, “Elvis,” which gained me a lot of recognition and fans from Middle Georgia. Since then, I have dropped projects like “Thank Me Later,” with tracks like “Strokin” & “Still A N.I.G.G.A.” In between releasing albums, I also delivered singles, including “Go Half,” serenading my female fans.

I distinguished myself from most rappers and gained recognition most recently from hip-hop artist Fabulous. In June of 2020, I was selected as one of the top lyricists in the Cold Summer Freestyle Challenge. Prior to this, collaborations with other artists such as Peewee Longway, Derez De’Shon, OJ da Juiceman, and Bloody Jay stamped me as a noteworthy artist.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is to remain consistent. I’ve seen so many artists with real talent disappear after a hit single. I’ve learned that doing good, honest business goes a long way in maintaining the relationships necessary to endure in this industry.
