Today we’d like to introduce you to Lexi S. Brunson.
Hi Lexi S., so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
While pursuing a degree in Interior Architecture & Design at Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design, in a Liberal Studies writing course, Alexia S. Brunson was asked to create a piece that reflected things that inspired her, in a way that surpassed a scholarly essay. At this time she produced a body of work that was presented in a magazine format and called it: CopyWrite.
In doing that project, Alexia learned that there was a lack and a hunger for that sort of media in the Milwaukee creative community. A platform that shows uncensored creativity from an “Urban” perspective, telling stories from a grassroots level and connecting people with a different sense of reality, was unheard of. The media this demographic had become accustomed to was dictated by negativity, outsider bias, and of course, a crude social structure that was simply in it for the money; thus an unsustainable methodology.
While working in the creative field as an interior designer in corporate America, with CopyWrite functioning as a startup, she committed time to a Masters’s Degree in Media Studies, where she focused on the nuances of intersectionality between media, culture, and community. CopyWrite’s work continues to be a reflection of that research, creating real-world solutions for a demographic that serves as the cultural infrastructure of modern society. So the vision is simple: support creative infrastructure as a catalyst of innovation, economic development, and a heightened quality of life for all.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not.
Industry has changed over the “decade”.
People change, stories change, goals change. But most impactful is the real world economy. Real creative impact that is sustainable takes money and nobody wants to pay for good media or media services when they can get main stream crap for “free”.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about CopyWrite ?

Observant, inquisitive, and shy. The one thing that was constant was my creativity. I tried almost every type of creative form.
