Rising Stars: Meet Vanessa Henderson of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Henderson.

Hi Vanessa, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started as a fashion designer. In the early years. I was about 5 or 6 years old. My mother was a sewer that dd everything on her hands.. I continued to make strides. Iwas married early so I did everything for my family.
Now 50 plus years. I look forward to seeing the education needed for my young people.. Teaching them how to ByOB their own brands. My journey is needed to teach fashion for the future.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey has not been a smooth road. Building a vision from the ground up has required perseverance, patience, and unwavering faith. Some of the greatest challenges have included securing resources and funding, building a committed leadership team, establishing organizational structures and protocols, and helping others understand and embrace the long-term vision of Numi.

Like many leaders, I have also faced moments of uncertainty, resistance to change, and the need to make difficult decisions for the good of the organization. These experiences have strengthened my leadership, deepened my commitment to service, and reinforced the importance of integrity, collaboration, and clear communication.

Every challenge has become an opportunity to learn, grow, and build a stronger foundation. Today, those experiences continue to shape a resilient leadership approach focused on creating lasting impact for the people and the future of the Kingdom of Numi

Dr. Vanessa Henderson
Dr. Vanessa Henderson is a designer, creative director, educator, humanitarian, actress, and community leader whose work bridges fashion, education, film, ministry, and cultural development. She is the founder of Van Miller International, an organization dedicated to empowering individuals through creativity, entrepreneurship, and workforce development.
Throughout her career, she has developed programs that teach sewing, fashion design, branding, and life skills to youth and adults. Her vision is to equip people with practical skills while inspiring confidence, leadership, and economic opportunity through the creative arts.
As an educator and humanitarian, Dr. Henderson is committed to building initiatives that strengthen communities through mentorship, education, and service. She has also been involved in film, television, theater, and media projects, using storytelling and the arts to encourage, educate, and inspire.
In addition to her creative work, Dr. Henderson serves as Prime Minister and Minister of Arts and Culture for the Kingdom of Numi. In this role, she focuses on cultural diplomacy, strategic partnerships, leadership development, and advancing the arts as a foundation for national identity and economic growth.
Her leadership is guided by a belief that creativity is more than artistic expression—it is a tool for transformation, innovation, and hope. Whether mentoring emerging designers, developing educational programs, producing creative projects, or serving in leadership, Dr. Henderson’s mission is to leave a lasting legacy of service, excellence, and opportunity for future generations.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The Most Important Lesson I’ve Learned Along My Journey

The most important lesson I have learned is that purpose requires perseverance. Every season of my journey has taught me that the vision placed inside of you may not always come with an easy path, but it is often through challenges that your strength, character, and leadership are developed.

I have learned that success is not only measured by personal achievements, but by the lives you touch, the opportunities you create, and the legacy you leave behind. My experiences in fashion, education, film, ministry, and humanitarian work have shown me the importance of staying committed to the mission, even when resources are limited or the road becomes difficult.

I have also learned the power of believing in people. Everyone has a gift, a story, and a purpose. As leaders, our responsibility is to recognize those gifts, create opportunities, and help others see their own potential.

The greatest lesson is that creativity, faith, and service can transform lives. When you remain authentic to your calling and continue to serve others, your journey becomes bigger than yourself—it becomes a legacy.
