Today we’d like to introduce you to Camille.
Hi Camille, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been in love with art and creating. Honestly, it all started with my obsession with shows like That’s So Raven, Hannah Montana, and iCarly. I would memorize scenes and perform them for my family every single day. I had absolutely no fear back then. Acting was the dream. Television was the dream.
But elementary school changed a lot for me. I was a little different from my peers. I’m a Black girl with red hair and a gap, so I stood out everywhere I went. I was a unicorn in a lot of ways, but at the time I didn’t see that as a good thing. I was labeled “weird,” and instead of embracing what made me different, I became terrified of standing out. My fear of looking stupid completely took over, and eventually I became afraid of the very dream I loved. Then came high school at Stilwell Performing Arts High School, where I was surrounded by creativity every day. You’d think that would’ve been the perfect environment for me to grow, but it wasn’t. In fact, I fought my parents tooth and nail not to send me there because I already knew I was too scared to perform. I had convinced myself that other people’s opinions mattered more than my own passion, and because of that, I was actively wasting my talent. Everything changed after graduation when I discovered content creation through social media. Creating videos in my room, just me and a camera, gave me the freedom to express myself without the pressure I’d always felt. It became a space where I could rediscover my creativity and in a way, rediscover myself. Funny enough, content creation led me right back to where I started. I’ve had the opportunity to appear in short films, and I’ve fallen in love with acting all over again while also discovering a new passion for vlogging and short-form content. Simply being myself on camera has opened so many doors, and one of the most rewarding parts has been inspiring other girls to show up as themselves too. Today, I embrace everything that once made me feel different. Those things became my greatest strengths instead of something to hide. You probably won’t catch me without a camera in my hand or pointed at my face. The girl who was once afraid to be seen is now obsessed with creating again and this time fear takes the backseat.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, I feel like I’m just pulling out the driveway. I have so many things to still learn and relearn and try and fail at. And so many things to succeed at that Ive never even tried because I turned down my chance in a way. The hardest part was probably getting out of my own way and the hardest part while on this journey will probably be to STAY out of my own way.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a content creator and aspiring actress who specializes in lifestyle content, vlogs, and short-form videos that make people feel seen. My content is rooted in authenticity. I like to share my everyday life, creative journey, and personal growth in a way that feels like you’re talking to your bestest friend. Whether I’m documenting a day in my life, creating beauty and fashion content, or sharing moments that make people laugh or reflect, my goal is always the same and that is to create content that connects. I’m probably best known for being unapologetically myself. I think that’s why my audience resonates with me. They see someone who’s learning, growing, creating, and showing up as she is, and it gives them permission to do the same. What I’m most proud of is building opportunities simply by being authentic. Content creation has opened doors I never imagined, from collaborating with brands to appearing in short films and rediscovering my love for acting. It’s incredible to know that something that started with a camera in my room ingrowing hopefully into a career that allows me to inspire other women to embrace who they are and to shut that fear out. What sets me apart is that my creativity comes from lived experience. For a long time, I was afraid to be seen because I worried about what other people thought. Now, the very things that once made me feel different are the things that make my work memorable. I bring vulnerability, humor, and just genuine emotion into everything I create, and people don’t just watch my content, they connect and/or learn from it. My goal isn’t just to entertain, it’s to make people feel more confident showing up unapologetically as themselves.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Ooh, that’s a hard one! I’d probably have to say new experiences. I love trying new things, visiting new places, tasting new foods, etc. It’s honestly one of my favorite ways to learn more about myself. Every new experience teaches me something, whether it’s discovering what I love, what I don’t, or what challenges me. I think that’s how you become more confident and decisive. When you’ve actually experienced something for yourself, it’s so much easier to know if it’s a yes or a no instead of wondering, *What if?*
