Community Highlights: Meet Tazmeena Haque of N7 Entertainment

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tazmeena Haque.

Hi Tazmeena, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I grew up in a small city in the UK in a conservative South Asian household, where the idea of building a career in entertainment, particularly as a woman, felt impossibly distant. The world around me valued certainty and convention, but I was drawn to creativity, storytelling, and the power music has to connect people across cultures.

That curiosity eventually led me halfway across the world to South Korea, where I became the co-founder and CEO of N7 Entertainment. Building a company in an industry and country that weren’t my own required more than ambition; it demanded resilience, reinvention, and a willingness to challenge expectations at every turn.

I’ve never been interested in staying within the boundaries of a single role. My work spans creative direction, A&R, songwriting, production, branding, and artist development, united by one goal: to create projects and careers with lasting impact. Today, along with my incredible team and partners, our work exists at the intersection of East and West, discovering talent, shaping creative identities, and bringing together artists and teams from different backgrounds to create music that transcends borders.

The journey has been defined by risk and an unwillingness to accept limitations imposed by geography, gender, or upbringing. Every challenge has reinforced the same belief: meaningful artistry doesn’t happen by accident. It is built through vision, persistence, and the courage to create something that doesn’t yet exist.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all. In many ways, the uncertainty and setbacks have shaped my journey just as much as the successes.

As a woman from a conservative South Asian background who grew up in a small town in the UK, there were very few examples of people around me pursuing careers in entertainment, let alone building companies within the industry. Stepping into spaces where I often felt like an outsider, whether because of my gender, nationality, or background, meant constantly having to prove that I belonged there.

Moving abroad brought its own challenges. Building a network from scratch in a foreign country, navigating cultural and language barriers, and establishing credibility in an industry built on relationships required persistence and an enormous amount of resilience. There were countless moments of self-doubt, financial uncertainty, and projects that didn’t unfold the way I had hoped.

One of the biggest lessons has been accepting that growth is rarely linear. Behind every opportunity are months, sometimes years, of work that nobody sees: difficult conversations, failed ideas, sleepless nights, and the pressure of carrying responsibility for both people and projects.

Looking back, I don’t think the struggles were obstacles to the journey, they were the journey. They forced me to become more adaptable, more confident in my instincts, and more determined to create opportunities not only for myself, but for others too. We still have a very long way to go until we can call ourselves ‘sucessful’ by definition.

We’ve been impressed with N7 Entertainment, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
N7 Entertainment is an independent record label and creative company headquartered in Seoul and London, with ambitions to establish a presence in North America in the years ahead. Alongside developing our own artists, we work closely with labels, management companies, and creatives internationally, building projects that move naturally between Asian and global markets.

Our work spans A&R, songwriting, production, artist development, branding, creative direction, PR, and international strategy. We can be involved at any stage of a project, from the first demo recorded in a writing session to the creative and commercial decisions that shape an artist’s long term career.

What distinguishes N7 is our position within the industry. We’re not confined to a single market or operating model: we’re both a label and a strategic partner, equally comfortable developing our own roster as we are collaborating with external teams. That flexibility allows us to bring together talent, ideas, and opportunities that might otherwise remain disconnected.

What I’m most proud of is that N7 was built independently, without a blueprint. It grew from relationships, trust, and a belief that the future of entertainment will be increasingly international. At its core, N7 exists to champion artists with distinct voices and create opportunities that extend far beyond a single city or country.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I’m an avid listener of *The Diary of a CEO* because I appreciate conversations that go beyond surface level success and explore the realities of building something meaningful. It has guests from all over the world from a variety of different industries and backgrounds and its facinating to hear the stories of the guests.

One book that has stayed with me for years is *The Alchemist*, its themes of intuition, ambition, and pursuing an unconventional path resonate deeply with my own journey.

Beyond books and podcasts, I rely heavily on social media as a research tool. Platforms like TikTok, Instagram, Xiaohongshu, and YouTube offer a fascinating, real time insight into shifts in culture, music, fashion, and consumer behaviour across different markets. Working across entertainment means constantly paying attention to how audiences think, communicate, and it helps me discover new artists.

On a practical level, apps like Notion help me organise projects and ideas across different countries and time zones, while music industry publications and online communities keep me connected to emerging trends and conversations shaping the global creative landscape.
