Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristi Mebane.
Kristi, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My story began long before 108 Wellness ever existed.
I was adopted as a child, and when I was six years old, I lost my father to suicide. That kind of loss shaped the way I moved through the world. For a long time, I carried abandonment, grief, and the belief that I had to earn love and acceptance.
In my early twenties, I coped in ways that pulled me even farther away from myself. Alcohol, cocaine, unhealthy relationships, people pleasing, and constantly staying busy helped me avoid everything I needed to face. I was just surviving instead of living.
Eventually I started to slow down. I started a self taught yoga practice and a few therapy sessions. However, everything changed completely when I had my son and I decided it was time to leave a toxic relationship.
So, during the pandemic I became a certified yoga instructor and earned my Master’s in Human Services Counseling with a concentration in Life Coaching. I also started studying the connection between the nervous system, movement, mindfulness, and personal growth. The more I learned, the more I realized healing is about reconnecting with the person you were before all of life’s labels, conditioning, and trauma set in.
That realization became the foundation of 108 Wellness. Originally I started out contracting my yoga sessions and workshops with local schools and businesses. Although rewarding I felt a deeper call towards something else.
This led me to, recently, pivoting my business. Today, I help women who are exhausted from life reconnect with themselves through movement, nervous system regulation, mindfulness, and intentional daily practices. My workbooks, coaching, classes, and content all come back to one belief. Lasting change happens when you build a relationship with yourself that can withstand life’s hardest seasons.
Everything I create comes from a place I’ve lived myself. I tell people all the time I’m 36 but I’ve lived many lives. My mission is to remind women that who they’ve been searching for has been within them all along.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not. There were many times I wanted to give up. In the beginning stages I was in the middle of a toxic and abusive relationship while working full time, raising my son, and continuing my own healing. Let me not forget the financial problems as well. There were days I questioned whether anyone would care about what I had to say. I feel like all entrepreneurs flow through the same thoughts and needing to overcome imposter syndrome. It wasn’t glamorous whatsoever. But, I knew this vision came to me for a reason so I kept going.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
108 Wellness helps women reconnect with themselves through movement, mindfulness, nervous system regulation, and intentional daily practices. I specialize in creating simple, sustainable tools and systems that help women slow down, build self-awareness, and feel more grounded in their everyday lives.
Whether it’s through yoga & sound baths, coaching, or my digital workbooks, my goal is to make healing feel approachable instead of overwhelming. Everything I teach comes from my own lived experience, which allows me to meet people with honesty, compassion, and understanding.
What I’m most proud of is the community we’re building. I want women to leave 108 Wellness feeling empowered to trust themselves, care for themselves, and create a life that feels aligned with who they truly are.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Definitely Resilience.
Since I was in the womb life has asked me to rebuild more than once, and each time I’ve learned how to keep moving forward without completely losing sight of who I am. That resilience has shaped the way I lead, teach, and serve others.
I don’t give up easily, and I’m willing to do the quiet, consistent work that real growth requires. I believe that’s been one of the biggest reasons I’ve been able to build a business that feels authentic to who I am. Less performing, more solitude. Me and God.
