Rising Stars: Meet Jennacy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennacy.

Jennacy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born in Leeds and grew up in North London, and music has always been a huge part of my life. From a young age I was writing songs, creating music, and getting involved in the arts. What started as a passion eventually became my career, and I’ve now been independently releasing music for over 10 years.
I attended a music college which really showed me how much I wanted to pursue it.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being an independent artist hasn’t always been easy. You have to build everything yourself and work with the resources you have. Sometimes the numbers don’t reflect the amount of hard work you’ve put in, and that can be discouraging. But I’ve learned that success isn’t just about streaming numbers—it’s about creating music that means something and finding the people who genuinely connect with it.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
A lot of people know me for my heartbreak songs because storytelling has always been at the heart of my music. Writing is therapeutic for me, and every song captures a chapter of my life. I also spent time working as a backing singer for other artists, but I eventually stepped away from that because I realised my passion was telling my own story rather than helping tell someone else’s.
Right now I’m in what I call my “lover girl era.” My latest single, When I’m With You, reflects that new chapter and shows a different side of me creatively. We’re also celebrating the one-year anniversary of my project Love in Retrograde, which takes listeners through the heartbreak, confusion, and emotional chaos that can come with love during retrograde. Now I’m excited for Part 2, because it’s the next chapter of the story, one that comes from a place of healing, happiness, and love.

I’ve had the opportunity to perform at incredible venues and events including Lovebox Festival, Ronnie Scott’s, the Jazz Cafe, the Royal Albert Hall, Sofar Sounds Toronto, Amersham Arms, and many others. Those moments have been really special because they’ve shown me how powerful it is to connect with people through music.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
