Today we’d like to introduce you to Sebastián Vadillo.
Hi Sebastián, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Sebastián Vadillo is a Mexican singer-songwriter and actor based in Madrid who blends pop with rock and Latin music influences. Throughout his career, he has shared the stage with artists such as Yahir and performed internationally; he is currently promoting *Bandidos*, his third studio album, with which he continues to establish his artistic identity in new venues.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey has been tough; I don’t come from a family of artists—both my parents are teachers. I had to carve out my own path within my family first, and then building an artistic career in a country like Mexico is extremely difficult due to the lack of opportunities. With all that in mind, I decided to pack my entire life into two suitcases and cross the ocean to Madrid, Spain, in an effort to reach a wider audience and fully realize my dreams.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a singer-songwriter with a career spanning nearly ten years; by the age of 18, my music was already playing on radio stations across my country. I have performed concerts and made special appearances on national radio shows television. I have worked with Grammy winners Pepe Ortega and Orlando DiPietro, and I am currently on a promotional tour for my third studio album, *Bandidos*, with dates scheduled in Mexico and Spain. As an actor, I have appeared in multi-award-winning short films—such as *Apetito* by Joyas Films—as well as international short films, including those produced by the Ibero-Mexican production company Flor del Desierto.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I am proudly Mexican and love my country; the situation regarding the violence and organized crime we are currently experiencing saddens me deeply. I wish for us to leave a better Mexico for future generations. Mexico is colorful, passionate, and full of culture, aromas, and flavors. Madrid is also a beautiful city, with art everywhere you look, amazing cuisine, and incredible infrastructure. The only thing I sometimes miss is the warmth and empathy that come naturally to us in Mexico.
