Life & Work with Sophia Maria of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sophia Maria.

Hi Sophia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I love to sing and have loved pretend play and drama classes since I was 3 years old. My first class was at Stage Door Theater. Along the way, my mom decided to submit my profile to a casting agent, and by age 6 until now, I’ve been so happy to have Carol Shaginaw Talent as my talent agent. I’ve been in commercials for Chick-fil-A, Domino’s Pizza, and the Georgia Lottery, and I was also in a film about bullying.

I owe all these talents to God — He is so good, and I believe He has great plans for me. I want to use my talents for His greater glory, but I know I have to work hard too. I train at Catapult Acting Studios, and I believe I will do my best and God will do the rest. Hard things are food for the soul.

I also love my Catholic faith and attend a Catholic school. I’m passionate about the arts and take classes and camps at Spruill Arts in Dunwoody, GA. Outside of acting, I love playing tennis and swimming.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. I juggle a lot — my studies, swimming practice, acting classes, and auditions. I’ve had a lot of auditions but only a few bookings, and we celebrate both the auditions and the bookings. Sometimes it stings when I don’t get booked, but I know I gave my best, and that’s what matters. Do your best, and God will do the rest. God has His perfect plans, and they’re always the best. So I thank Him each day for this life. Hard things are food for the soul.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a rising actress based in Atlanta, and I’ve been blessed to be part of commercials for Chick-fil-A, Domino’s, and the Georgia Lottery, as well as a short film about bullying. I’m also a rising 4th grader at a Catholic school, and I’m on a mission to spread my Catholic faith and the joy it brings to my life. Alongside acting, I run my own little shop called Sophia Creates, where I make and sell handmade bookmarks, pens, and keychains — you can find them on our site, www.mantradamiabyreyn.com.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I want to thank my parents for supporting me every day of my life. My school has helped me learn so much, especially in growing my Catholic faith — it’s also taught me about business. I love our school’s Market Day, where we get to create and sell our own products, and that’s actually where the idea for my bookmarks came from, the very ones I sell in my shop today.
