Daily Inspiration: Meet Andrew Holmes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Holmes.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My story started in high school, when my best friend London asked me a simple question: “do you want to make comics with me?” From there, the two of us made comics throughout the rest of our senior year of high school and first three years of college. During our time in college, we created a club called the comic club where we, and a few amazing friends we made along the way, helped teach the students on our campus how to make comics. Today, I am evolving my creative journey by creating an Animatic short film for my senior capstone project.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been an entirely smooth road. One thing college teaches you is that time is everything, and the one thing that you will have little of. On top of being the Vice President of Comic Club, I juggled being a part of my schools plays as a stage and screen major, as well as working at my on campus job. It was hard to balance so many responsibilities at once, and it took a few semesters for me to become used to such a busy schedule.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am both an actor and writer. I have appeared in a few of my schools plays and was an extra in Stranger things season 4. Most recently, I performed MLK’s famous I have a dream speech at the “Black History Southern Soul” event in Morrow Georgia. As my acting career still catches it’s wings, I have found a new passion in writing. I have written 3 comics since I met my friend London. I love looking back at them and seeing the growth each comic has afforded me. Looking back at them, you can clearly see the growth in my ability to craft a story worth telling. If you want to take a look at the comics I’ve written, links to them are attached down below in order of release. I feel as though these stories speak to what makes me different then others. Once I have the concept of story, I can create a entire mutli season plan for where the story can go in a week. The project I am most proud of is the one I am currently working on. I am doing an animatic short film for my senior capstone. Its a a romance sci-fi story called Astrophollia. What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was the kid who did everything. I was in my elementary schools choir, beta club, math club, and dance club. I was always the “good” kid and was often called a teachers pet.
