Conversations with BLIZM

Today we’d like to introduce you to BLIZM.

Hi BLIZM, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am a veteran Hip-Hop artist, producer, and
media pioneer. My career is rooted in
independence and longevity. I am the founder of
Chainless Entertainment, an independent record label and the award-winning
digital radio platform, K-100 Radio. I’ve spent years
amplifying indie voices via the broadcast before returning to the
mic releasing new music in 2026. My new album,The Dangerous Unc, is my first
full-length album in over 15 years. It is receiving rave reviews all over the country and internationally.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has never been a smooth road, more of a constant grind. Owning an indie record label and a radio platform, one of the biggest struggles is keeping up with ever emerging technology in both spaces. Also, being an entrepreneur and financing both of these companies from their start up phases was a very tough road. Juggling all of while raising kids and taking care of things that come with everyday life can be exhausting, and everyone isn’ built for it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As far as music goes, I have released five solo albums along with numerous other releases on our record label, Chainless Entertainment. In media and radio, I helped trail blaze the now popular online music review space with our ground breaking and award winning music review segment on K-100 Radio called “ILL or KILL”. If I had to say I specialize in anything, I would say I specialize in independence. Owning my own brands and companies, building them from the ground without asking for handouts. Instead of searching for a major label to “sign” me I started my own. Instead of dealing with the politics of commercial radio, I built my own radio platform and allowed others to thrive and get exposure based only on how good their music was. I’m an expert in being an indie artist. What I am most proud of is, when someone told me no, I turned it into a yes on my own terms. And then I built a platform that allowed me to say yes to other artists and help them in their journey.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love the diversity and acceptance of others from all over the world. Being a transplant and relocating to Atlanta almost thirty years ago was one of the best decisions of my life. Probably the worst things about the city is the traffic and crime but that comes with living in a metropolitan area. They call Atlanta the “Black Mecca” for a reason, and probably the biggest advantage of living here as a black person is the thriving African American population. There is no other place like it.
