Check Out Sarah Comeau’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Comeau.

Hi Sarah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I like to call myself a “hobbyist “. I love to learn many things sometimes at the same time. Whatever peaked my interest, I definitely dived in with a 100%. Hair and content has been the few hobbies I consistently continued with one being lucrative at one point in my life. It started with just me and a desktop and having a “quarterly” life crisis with shaving my hair off completely. I needed a fresh start while still finding things that helped ground me. I worked quite a few jobs especially a lot of salon jobs, working my apprenticeship which left me a lot of time to start a craft that I didn’t know would lead me to a career that would fulfill me and many others along the way. I had hair galore without any hair to attach to it. Right there I had an idea to try to create wigs with the hair I have. At the time sew-ins were the thing and wigs were looked at as a cheap alternative for an older demographic so there wasn’t much information compare to today. I had so much ideas running in my head from color to cut and my hair couldn’t withstand that so I started doing research on the basis of creating wigs. There wasn’t much information but the little I found gave me enough tools to figure out the foundation and from there I poured my heart and mind to finding as much information as possible for my wigs to give the sew in feeling while having updated choices to my looks. The more I research, the more I try to find content about it, the less I found . There I started creating content along it to educate other people about different options and variety of wigs as well as beauty. While building my hair business, unknowingly started building a brand through content. Content end up being what really allowed me to find my ground, my point A to point B. How I can truly convey my ideas to my clients as well as my audience. I’ve help and transform many women and uplift their spirits as well as their self esteem. That has always brought me so much joy to help women see themselves the way I see them. At some point had to take a break from the wigs because I became a mother. Since I was a one man show, it was hard to keep up with the demand my business needed and it broke me that I couldn’t serve my community the way I had in the past, but it gave me an opportunity to pivot. I started to romanticize my new life and responsibilities that I had. Content truly still gave me a voice even when I felt that it didn’t matter to myself. Adjusting to my new life, it helped me give me something to look forward to and still serve my community. I’m still very much a wig maker as well as a small creator but doors are still being open to me regardless the numbers. Truly I found my path as I work my way through navigating being a content creator and trying to rebrand and rebuild my wig business.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It was a lot of obstacles. Starting something with no money or support has been a huge challenge. I was in college with nothing but a firehouse salary trying to make it work for me. From trying to build trust to building a clientele who would take a chance without someone as young as me to create units that I knew I could that would help them with their day to day routines.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am known for creating wigs to many over the years. Now, I am creating a new lane for myself a content creator over the years.

What I am most proud of is not necessarily the things I do but how I continuously try and pivot if need be. Always making something out of nothing. Truly I believe that’s what sets me apart from many. It’s the tenacity and the drive to go and make something I know I can and be shameless whether I failed or not. To get back up and create a new plan and to continue to get the my destination.

How do you define success?
The way I define success is truly how I define contentment . I once too share the common view of success with my peers. Which is having the flashy things and aiming to have so much money and just being number one. But over the years now that I am close to 30, success has looked completely different to me. Now success looks like having the ability to provide for my family while having the flexibility to navigate through life and be present for my son. Having the chance to get out of survival mode and just being able to be present and still. Money will always be a necessity unfortunately and will always be mandatory to aim for the stability which I believe that’s a goal for all globally but aside from that, expectation I don’t want to continue to push is to miss on life around me because I believed the only way to be successful is to only run and not having the ability to walk to get to where your going. No matter how many stops and breaks and naps you take, they are just as important as getting to where you’re going. Is better to get there well rested then to be exhausted and out of it to enjoy the fruits of your labor.
