Today we’d like to introduce you to Myaah Hunt.
Hi Myaah, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My entrepreneurial journey began in 2019 during the beginning of COVID. I was living in my first apartment in Midtown Atlanta, working three jobs and attending Georgia State. When the world shut down, I knew I had to find a way to create income for myself, so I turned to the one thing I had always loved, fashion. I started sketching, sewing, and creating patterns every day. Eventually, I created my first set, the “Selena Set.” I posted it online, went to sleep, and woke up to more than 50 orders from people around the world. That moment changed everything. Dream Girl Effects was born.
I relaunched Dream Girl, released my second collection, rebranded, and began expanding into nails, events, taxes, and other ventures. I’ve always been in love with my dreams, and I’ve never wanted to limit myself to one lane. My vision is to build a multifaceted portfolio of businesses and eventually grow Dream Girl into three major brands that work together as one powerful franchise. More than anything, I’m creating something my daughter and I can be proud of, while building a million-dollar legacy from the dreams I believed in when I was just getting started.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not long after my business began taking off, my dad suffered a stroke. He was my best friend, my mentor, and the person who taught me how to sew, so losing that part of our relationship during such an important time in my life was heartbreaking. I stepped away from sewing and struggled to find my direction again. I also had to navigate major life changes, motherhood, relocation, and rebuilding my confidence as an entrepreneur. Through each season, I learned to keep going, trust my creativity, and remind myself why I started. Those experiences shaped the entrepreneur I am today and taught me that my dreams are worth continuing to pursue, even when life doesn’t go according to plan.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a creative entrepreneur with a background in fashion, beauty, and bringing visions alive. I’m the founder of Dream Girl World, a fashion brand built around self-expression, confidence, and individuality. I’ve relaunched the brand, released multiple collections, and continued expanding my creative skills into nail artistry and event planning.
What sets me apart is my ability to take an idea from concept to an actual brand, product, or experience. I’m passionate about building businesses that reflect my creativity while creating opportunities for long-term growth. I’m most proud of becoming more intentional about my creative career and building a business portfolio with the vision of eventually growing Dream Girl into a multi-brand franchise.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
My favorite podcasts include Keke Palmer’s podcast and Sarah Jakes Roberts’ podcast, which I listen to every morning. I enjoy content focused on personal growth, faith, mindset, and becoming a better version of myself. I also journal during my prayer time using In the Moment of Prayer by Karen Stubbs. Right now, I’m reading Conquer Your Negative Thoughts by Daniel G. Amen, which has been helping me become more intentional about my mindset and how I approach challenges.
