Hidden Gems: Meet Calyn Molencamp of Balance & Bins

Today we’d like to introduce you to Calyn Molencamp.

Hi Calyn, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I spent nearly a decade in aviation before life gave me lemons, and a severance package, and it was time to figure out my next step. With the support of family and friends, I began my journey of entrepreneurship. I’ve always been passionate about organization, not realizing it’s a skill many struggle to implement and maintain. After some research on the local market and a conversation in my weekly boxing class, Balance & Bins was born. September marks two years of helping others create more function in their spaces, gaining more time for the parts of life that truly matter.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have been tremendously blessed with the support of my community, which has afforded the opportunity to build my company from scratch. It’s a very humbling experience to be handed a blank slate. Possibilities can feel endless when writing your own story. You have to trust the process and find your ways to keep moving forward.

As you know, we’re big fans of Balance & Bins . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Balance & Bins Home Organization is a professional organizing company built around a simple idea: an organized home should make your life feel easier—not add another standard to live up to.

We help busy individuals and families create functional, intentional spaces through thoughtful decluttering and customized organizing systems. From closets and pantries to kitchens, playrooms, offices, garages, and everything in between, we work with clients to understand how they actually use their homes and then create systems that support their everyday lives.

One thing that sets Balance & Bins apart is that we don’t believe organization is one-size-fits-all—or that every space needs to look perfectly “Pinterest-worthy.” Function comes first. Our goal is to create systems that are realistic, sustainable, and easy for clients to maintain long after we leave. When we can achieve function and beauty together, that’s the ultimate win.

The name Balance & Bins reflects the bigger purpose behind the business. The bins are simply the tools; the real goal is balance. We want clients to spend less time searching, sorting, and managing their stuff and more time enjoying their homes and the people and experiences that matter most.

We’re especially proud of how the Balance & Bins brand has evolved over the past two years. What started as a passion for creating beautiful, organized spaces has grown into a brand centered around intentional living, practical systems, and the idea that your home should support the life you want to live.

Our motto, “Organized Living. Balanced Being.”, captures that philosophy perfectly.

At the end of the day, we’re not just putting things into bins. We’re helping people make decisions about what deserves space in their homes, creating systems around those decisions, and giving them back something incredibly valuable: time, ease, and a little more breathing room.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
The surprising thing about our work is that we’re not really in the bin business. Bins and beautiful containers are simply tools we use to create functional systems. The real work is helping people make intentional decisions about what deserves space in their homes and creating systems that make everyday life easier.

Ultimately, we don’t believe we’re selling organization—we’re giving people back time, ease, and mental space. That’s what makes the work so rewarding, and it’s a big part of why our motto is Organized Living. Balanced Being.
