Today we’d like to introduce you to Janine Myers.
Hi Janine , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born in England and moved to the U.S. in 1989 after marrying my American fiancé, who is now my wonderful husband. We have three children, and family has always been at the center of everything I do — which is especially true now, as they’re all involved in my design business in some way. My son Sam has designed pieces for my line, and Emily and Jake have modeled for me and continue to help with ideas and inspiration.
My modeling journey began in 2022 when I was signed by NEMG after they saw fitness photos I had done with photographer Lucie Wicker. From there, I started doing lifestyle shoots, which sparked an interest in acting. I began taking classes with Bates Wilder, Boston Casting, and Heather Whitty, and went on to work on several student films.
At the same time, I noticed there weren’t enough mature women represented on the runway, so I decided to pursue runway modeling. I started walking shows about two years ago and haven’t looked back — I’ve now walked in over 50 shows, including Runway7 in New York. I also became an Angelz model for Ultimate Prom and Bridal, creating biweekly content and doing photoshoots as a mother-of-the-bride model.
Being surrounded by designers and beautiful clothing reminded me of my lifelong love of sewing and design. Years ago, I ran a dance and mime troupe and designed and made all the costumes, and I’ve always made clothing for myself and my children.
Last year, I launched Janini Designs, which includes luxury pieces, patched denim, pleather and lace, swimwear, and ready-to-wear collections.
In the fall of 2024, I was scouted by Tina Kiniry, and I later attended IMTA with her. As a result, I’m now represented as a model in Florida, Los Angeles, and New York, and I also have a manager for acting. I’m currently preparing for NH Fashion Week and The Look in Connecticut, and I’ll be appearing on Good Day CT with one of my designs to talk about the show.
Fitness has also been a huge part of my life. I’ve been a fitness instructor for almost 15 years, teaching Zumba, Barre, Pilates, Stretch, and Stability Ball classes, as well as working with one-on-one clients in my home gym. I’m also part of Fit Bodies, which allows me to teach fitness at resorts throughout the Caribbean.
All of these parts of my life work together beautifully. Most days start with a 5 a.m. run, teaching my morning fitness class, and coffee with my husband — then I spend the day sewing, designing, modeling, or preparing for shows, with breaks for tennis, biking, and time with my family. It’s been an unexpected but incredibly fulfilling journey, and I feel like I’m just getting started.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I would say that since I began modeling and acting later in life it’s been a fairly smooth road. I live life to the full and to have fun, trying not to have specific expectations. No end game in mind just walking through doors as they open and always excited for the next adventure!
In my life I’ve been a secretary, a guidance counselor, a gardener. I’ve had a catering business called Janine’s Cuisine, a sewing business making curtains, started an all natural skincare line called Nini’s Naturals and now Janine the machine fitness. All without a college education!
The biggest challenge in the modeling and ancting industry is rejection, but understanding how competitive it is and really just having fun with it keeps me grounded.
The design business is just pure fun and delight! I have a fabulous husband and three great kids.
As you know, we’re big fans of Janinethemachine fitness. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My brand is centered around representation, confidence, wellness, and showing women that it is never too late to pursue a dream or become the strongest version of themselves. As a mature runway model, content creator, fitness coach, and founder of Janine the Machine Fitness, I specialize in fashion, runway, bridal, lifestyle modeling, and fitness coaching, with a special focus on representing and uplifting women in a stage of life that is often underrepresented.
Through my modeling work, I bring elegance, confidence, professionalism, and authenticity to every runway, photoshoot, and brand collaboration. Whether I am walking in a fashion show, modeling mother-of-the-bride looks, creating content for Ultimate Prom and Bridal as an Ultimate Angelz model, or working with designers and creatives, my goal is always to represent the clothing and the brand with grace and purpose.
In addition to modeling, fitness is a major part of who I am and what my brand represents. Through Janine the Machine Fitness, I offer daily fitness classes, one-on-one personal training out of my home, and coaching designed to help women build strength, confidence, consistency, and overall wellness. My fitness programs especially cater to an older population, creating a welcoming and supportive space for women who want to stay active, improve their health, and feel empowered in their bodies at every age.
What sets me apart is my story and the message behind my work. I started modeling later in life, and instead of seeing that as a limitation, I see it as one of my greatest strengths. I bring life experience, confidence, relatability, and a passion for helping other women see what is possible for themselves. Whether I am on the runway, in front of the camera, or coaching women through a workout, my mission is the same: to inspire others to show up for themselves and believe that age does not define their beauty, strength, or potential.
Brand-wise, I am most proud that my journey has become bigger than me. It is not just about being on the runway or leading a fitness class — it is about creating visibility for mature women, helping redefine what confidence looks like, and encouraging women to take care of themselves physically, mentally, and emotionally. I am proud to be part of spaces that celebrate women of all ages and to use my platform to promote empowerment, wellness, and self-belief.
What I want readers to know is that my brand is about empowerment, elegance, strength, and authenticity. I offer modeling, runway, content creation, brand representation, fitness classes, personal training, and coaching, but at the heart of it all is a mission to inspire. I want women to know that they can still dream boldly, move their bodies, build confidence, pursue new goals, and take up space in any room they walk into.
What matters most to you? Why?
My family matters the most to me because they are my foundation, my support and everything that motivates me to move forward in all areas of my career. My husband is the most loving and supportive man who daily makes me the best version of myself. My kids are all smart, compassionate and motivated individuals and watching the mature and grow is the very best part of my life.
