Daily Inspiration: Meet Kirstie Poviltim

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kirstie Poviltim.

Hi Kirstie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Our company is made up of myself,Gadget,Kirstie and my daughter Gidget, Tia. We founded Whiskher Winx through our passion for crafting and animal rescue. Our goal is to raise enough funds to open a tea café. The cafe is an inclusive event space that hosts game nights and events for all ages. The café will also be used to sponsor cat rescue adoptions to help the rescue that we volunteer through to find forever homes for rescued fur babies.Whimsy with purpose is our mission statement and how we choose to navigate through life. We feel that a little whimsy helps the day be more beautiful.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a challenge due to personal loss of family members during the creation of our business and our launch. We’re nuerodivergent and Gidget has physical disabilities that pose challenges that we didn’t expect. We carry on with positive attitudes knowing that hard work will always help us accomplish our goals. With a little bit of courage all things are possible.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Myself, Gadget, have worked professionally in mascot creation. This sparked my heart into knowing that being a creative person is a beautiful thing. I’m very proud to have worked with Gidget in the animal community. There is so much need in this area. It changed my perspective on animal care and enhanced my relationship with Gidget as an adult and peer .
Gidget is most proud of competing as an equal with her peers when she feels “less than”, she gathers the courage to accomplish her goals. Her experience working with animals has shown her that she can do whatever she sets her mind on.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
In 5 years our largest goal is buying property and creating a learning farm for our community. We plan to grow our teas and create an environment that empowers our staff and patrons.Teaching the skills of crafting,gardening, preserving foods and animal care while growing and bonding through adversity. Showing our community by example, no matter the disability, mental or physical, you can make your dreams a reality.
