Today we’d like to introduce you to Renette-Kaire Tchocksi.
Hi Renette-Kaire, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story has really been shaped by a combination of medicine, creativity, and a willingness to step outside of my comfort zone. I’m originally from Georgia, and I earned my bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Georgia before deciding to pursue my dream of becoming a physician. That journey eventually brought me to the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in Sint Maarten, where I’m currently a medical student.
Medicine is an important part of my story, but I never want it to be the most interesting thing about me. While becoming a physician has been a goal of mine for a long time, I’ve always had interests outside of academics. I started creating content on social media as a way to express myself and share pieces of my life, and over time, it grew into something much bigger than I expected. My content now centers around lifestyle, beauty, travel, fitness, and my experiences as a medical student. I’ve had the opportunity to build a community online and work with brands while continuing to navigate the demands of medical school.
Moving from Georgia to Sint Maarten for medical school was one of the biggest transitions of my life. It meant leaving behind what was familiar and learning how to build a new life in another country while adjusting to an incredibly rigorous academic environment. There have definitely been challenging moments, but the experience has pushed me to become more independent, disciplined, and confident in myself.
Along the way, I’ve also made it a priority to become involved in my medical school community. I’ve taken on leadership roles in student organizations, including serving as Student Affairs Co-Chair for our Student Government Association, Historian for the Student National Medical Association, Events Coordinator for the American Medical Women’s Association, and Research Coordinator for our Cardiology Interest Group.
Today, I’m still very much in the middle of my story. I’m working toward becoming a physician while continuing to grow as a content creator, leader, and person. One of the biggest things I’ve learned is that I don’t have to fit myself into one box. I can be passionate about medicine and still love beauty, travel, fitness, fashion, and creating content. I’m excited to see how all of those parts of my life continue to evolve and ultimately shape the physician I become and the woman I continue to grow into.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. One of the biggest challenges for me has been learning to be comfortable with not having everything figured out. I think there can be so much pressure, especially in your twenties, to know exactly who you are, what you want, and what your life is supposed to look like. Medicine can add another layer to that because the path is so structured and demanding, yet there is still so much uncertainty along the way.
Moving from Georgia to Sint Maarten for medical school was also a huge adjustment. I had to leave behind my family, friends, routines, and the familiarity of home while adapting to a new country and the intensity of medical school at the same time. There have been periods when I’ve felt overwhelmed, questioned myself, or had to adjust the expectations I had for how this journey would look.
Another challenge has been learning how to balance all the different parts of who I am. Medical school requires a tremendous amount of time and discipline, but I’m also someone who genuinely enjoys creating content, traveling, fitness, leadership, and having a life outside of medicine. At times, I’ve felt pressure to choose between those things or wondered whether I was doing “too much.” I’m still learning that balance, but I’ve realized that having interests outside of medicine doesn’t make me any less committed to becoming a physician. If anything, those things help me stay connected to myself.
I’ve also had to learn not to compare my timeline to other people’s. It’s easy to look around—especially online—and feel like everyone else has already reached the place you’re still working toward. I’m learning to give myself more grace and recognize that growth doesn’t always look impressive while you’re in the middle of it.
I still have difficult days, and I definitely don’t have everything figured out. But I think that’s one of the most important things this journey has taught me: you don’t have to have the entire road mapped out to know that you’re moving in the right direction. My faith has taught me to trust that God’s plan for my life is greater than anything I could map out for myself. Even when things don’t happen the way or on the timeline I imagined, I’m learning to trust that there is purpose in where He has me. I’m learning to adapt when things don’t go according to plan and appreciate who I’m becoming along the way.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a medical student and lifestyle and digital content creator who loves sharing the different things that make life exciting to me—beauty, fashion, travel, fitness, food, new experiences, and everything in between. My content has always been a space where I can be creative, express myself, and document my life as it evolves.
What I love most about creating is that I’ve never wanted to put myself into one specific box. I can share a beauty routine, take my audience along on a solo trip, document a new restaurant or experience, post what I’m wearing, share my fitness journey, work with a brand I genuinely enjoy, and occasionally bring people into my life as a medical student. Medicine is a huge part of my life and something I’m incredibly passionate about, but it’s only one part of who I am.
I think that mindset is also what sets my content apart. I’m not trying to build a perfectly curated version of myself around one title or niche. I want people to follow me because they connect with me and are interested in where life takes me next. Right now, that happens to include living on a Caribbean island while attending medical school, traveling whenever I get the opportunity, building my career as a creator, taking on new experiences, and figuring out my twenties in real time.
I’m especially proud that something I genuinely enjoy doing has grown into opportunities to collaborate with brands and connect with people I may have never reached otherwise. It’s exciting to look back and realize that simply sharing my life and interests has opened doors for me creatively and professionally.
As I continue to grow, I want my platform to evolve with me rather than limit me. Five years from now, my life may look completely different, and I want the freedom for my content to reflect that. At the end of the day, I want people to see that you can be ambitious and multidimensional. You don’t have to reduce yourself to your career, your degree, or any one accomplishment. There should always be more to who you are than the title next to your name.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I’m always open to connecting with people and brands that align with my interests and the community I’ve built. For creative collaborations and paid brand partnerships, I’m especially interested in opportunities within beauty, fashion, lifestyle, travel, wellness, and experiences that feel authentic to my life and the content I already enjoy creating.
I also love connecting with other creators, students, young professionals, and anyone navigating a season of growth and figuring things out as they go. Collaboration doesn’t always have to mean something formal—I think there’s so much value in sharing ideas, supporting each other’s work, and building genuine relationships.
