Daily Inspiration: Meet DayShawn Richardson

Today we’d like to introduce you to DayShawn Richardson.

Hi DayShawn, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always been a creative at heart. Dancing since the 3rd grade and eventually pursing acting, styling, and other forms of creative expression. My move to Atlanta came after going through a difficult situation back home that really forced me to reevaluate my life and what I wanted for myself. It made me realize that I didn’t want fear or circumstances to keep me from pursuing the dreams I’d always had.

So I took a leap of faith resigned from my 9-5 as a Special Education Teacher and moved to Atlanta. This move has given me the opportunity to grow, create, network, and genuinely pursue a life in the creative industry. I’m still very much in the process, and i don’t feel like I’ve “made it” yet, but I’m proud that i had the courage to start. Atlanta has become a place where I’m learning, evolving, and betting on myself.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It absolutely has not been a smooth road. Since moving to Atlanta in October of last year, I’ve had a really difficult time finding stable work, even with a bachelor’s degree, and I’ve had to move several times while trying to get established. There has been moments where I’ve questioned whether I made the right decision, but I’ve also learned a lot about resilience, adaptability, and continuing to believe myself even when things don’t look the way I imagined. I’m still figuring it out, but I’m proud that I didn’t give up on why I came here in the first place.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a multidisciplinary creative with a background in acting, dancing, styling, and content creation. I’m known for being versatile and going after my heart desires. I’ve always been someone who doesn’t fit into just one box, and I think that’s one of my biggest strengths.

What I’m most proud of is my willingness to keep pursuing my creativity even when life hasn’t made it easy. I’ve had to start over, adapt, and figure things out along the way, but I’ve never completely let go of the vision I have for myself.

What sets my apart is that I’m not afraid to go after what I want in life. Moving to Atlanta is a perfect example. I got up, left my hometown, and took a chance on myself because I knew I wanted more out of life. I’m willing to take risks, start over, and put myself in unfamiliar spaces if it means getting closer to the person I’m becoming.

Any big plans?
Looking ahead, I’m really excited to continue expanding myself as a creative. In the near future, I’d love to dance in music videos, award shows, and fashion shows, while also exploring more acting opportunities and seeing what roles come my way.

I’m also excited to bring my brand, Ghene, back and continue building it into something that truly represents me. Alongside that, i want to keep documenting the journey through daily vlogs on YouTube. I want people to be able to see the real process not just the outcome.
