Today we’d like to introduce you to Haley Edwards.
Hi Haley, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I entered foster care when I was eight years old and aged out at eighteen. I stepped into adulthood without much guidance, financial support or someone handing me a plan for what came next. I had to learn life while I was living it, and in many ways, I had to become my own foundation.
Over the years, I became a mother, built a career in the beauty industry and eventually became the owner of Lush Hair & Wax Studio. By trusting my clients to keep booking, believing in the power of word of mouth and taking everything one day at a time, I built something beautiful, something I am incredibly proud of.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
People see the salon, the beautiful space, the growing team and the business with my name attached to it. They see the finished services, the social media posts and everything I’ve worked so hard to create.
What they don’t always see is the woman behind it wondering how she is going to hold everything together.
They don’t see the nights I question whether the appointments will keep coming, whether the business will last or whether I’ll be able to make ends meet at the salon and in my personal life. They don’t see the anxiety, the overstimulation or the days I’m building a dream while operating in complete survival mode. So yes, so many struggles but I fake it until I make it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Lush Hair & Wax Studio is more than a salon, it is a place where people from every background can feel seen, welcomed, and beautiful.
We offer professional hair, waxing, lash, brow, and head-spa services in one space. Our team specializes in everything from Brazilian waxing and brows, blonding, lived-in color, extensions, curly hair, color corrections, lash lifts, and restorative scalp treatments. But what truly makes Lush special is not simply the number of services we provide, it is the way we care for the people receiving them.
Diversity is one of the greatest things that sets Lush apart. We proudly serve different ages, races, skin tones, hair textures, body types, and personalities. Beauty does not look just one way, and no one should ever walk into a salon wondering whether there is a place for them. At Lush, there is.
I want people to know that this business was built with purpose. I have spent more than 11 years helping people feel comfortable and confident through waxing, especially Brazilian waxing and brows. Over time, that passion grew into something much bigger: a full-service studio and a team of talented women who bring their own specialties, experiences, and personalities into the space.
I am proud that Lush gives other beauty professionals a place to grow while giving our clients access to so many services under one roof. I am proud of the trust people place in us during services that can feel vulnerable or deeply personal. I am proud that we create real relationships, not just appointments, and that people leave feeling cared for, confident, and a little more like themselves.
What sets me apart is that I do not believe success has to come at the expense of kindness, individuality, or inclusion. I care about the details, but I care even more about how people feel. I want every person who walks through our doors to feel comfortable enough to be themselves and confident that they are in capable hands.
Lush represents growth, resilience, and the courage to build something bigger than what I originally imagined. I did not simply step into an existing business, I gave it a new vision, brought different parts of the beauty industry together, expanded the services we could offer, and created opportunities for other women along the way.
When people read about Lush, I want them to know that it is welcoming, elevated, inclusive, and always evolving. When they read about me, I want them to see someone who worked hard, continued growing through every difficult season, believed in her vision, and created a business where both clients and professionals could belong.
That is what I am most proud of: Lush does not ask people to fit into one idea of beauty. We meet them exactly where they are, celebrate what makes them different, and help them leave feeling like the most confident version of themselves.
Lush Hair & Wax Studio is where beauty, diversity, talent, and genuine connection come together.
It is where the pretty people go, and at Lush, everyone deserves to feel pretty.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
Although Lush carries my vision, I did not arrive here alone. So many people have played a meaningful part in my journey, and pieces of their love, support, and belief in me live within this business.
I will always honor my best friend, Jessica Milton, who lost her life to cancer. Jessica took over my training, taught me so much of what I know, and cheered me on throughout my journey. She believed in me, encouraged me, and helped shape the professional and woman I have become. She is my angel now, but she continues to be one of my greatest driving forces. Her influence is woven into the way I work, the way I care for people, and the way I continue pushing forward. A part of Jessica will always live within me and within Lush.
I am also grateful for Brooke, who helped me begin learning before Jessica took over my training. Lindsey believed in me enough to welcome me into her space, even if only briefly, and that opportunity gave me the courage I needed to step out on my own.
Falan entered my journey during a season when we both needed one another. We co-owned the salon, supported each other, and built something meaningful together. When she was ready for her next chapter, she trusted me enough to allow me to buy her out and take over the salon. That trust gave me the opportunity to carry Lush forward and continue building upon everything we had created.
I am thankful for every woman on the Lush team. They lean on me for support, guidance, and a place where they can work and grow—but they also give me reasons to keep growing as a leader. Being trusted with their goals, careers, and dreams is something I never take lightly. I am incredibly proud that Lush can be a home for their talent and a place where they feel supported as they become who they are meant to be.
My mom and my brother have supported me endlessly through every idea, challenge, transition, and season of growth. Their belief in me has helped carry me through moments when believing in myself was difficult.
My boys are one of my greatest motivations. They are a constant reminder of why I work so hard, why I keep building, and why I refuse to give up. I want them to grow up seeing that courage, perseverance, and faith can turn a dream into something real.
I also want to recognize Ms. Chantal for loving me when she did not have to, helping me grow, and continuously speaking life and positivity into me. Her love, guidance, and encouragement have made a lasting difference in my life.
