Check out Megan Kruger’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Kruger.

Megan, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
When I wake up in the morning my computer is going, the kids are screaming and running around. I’m editing and wiping noses, breaking up fights. Its messes and memories and I couldn’t love it more. I am truly living my dream. I wanted to be a wife and a mother, an entrepreneur and a photographer…my dream has come to fruition.

I went to college and received a bachelor’s degree in biology, later a teaching certification, worked at Zoo Atlanta, the hospital and several places along the way looking for my “happy place”. After the birth of my son and the reality of how the days sneak past us I made it my goal to find a way to be home and raise my children, still have an outlet for “me” and have an income. The passion for photography was always there but in a saturated market I didn’t think success was an option. Once I realized that I was the only one stopping me I ran with it and here I am 6 years in, happy and fulfilled. As a mother, I know how fleeting these moments are. My mom always says “your gonna miss these days” and my goal is to grab snapshots of people’s lives so although they may miss the moments they won’t be able to forget them.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
At a very early age I had a great appreciation for a photograph. I lost a lot of very important people when I was very young so I grew to know them only as that picture. Photography has the ability to freeze a moment and give it to someone else to have forever. I can look at a picture of my Papa and remember how he smelled…the tone of his voice…that is something only photo and video can provide. Memories fade but that photo can bring it all back and so vividly. My goal is to provide that. When you look at a photo I have taken of your baby, I want it to bring back the way they felt in your arms, their little noises, their smell…I want you to see a picture of your wedding cake and remember the taste…THAT is my goal as a photographer. I’m honored to be a part of the most important and pivotal moments in a person’s life.

What do you know now that you wished you had learned earlier?
Be YOU. There are thousands of people out here doing the same thing you are but only you can offer your look, style, “feel”…I want someone to see my photographs and know that I am the one who captured it. I want my photos to have my “photographic fingerprint” per se! So do YOUR thing and remember that you are leaps and bounds farther than where you started.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
I have an active following on Instagram and Facebook with incredible supportive friends and fellow artists. I am a firm believer in community over competition and we often have Q&A sessions and offer support and guidance to other photographers.
