Today we’d like to introduce you to Drew Jeeezy.
Drew, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
When I found out who Michael Jackson was in 4th grade, I used to binge-watch all his videos practiced his moves and used to play “Michael Jackson Experience” on the Wii Nonstop. I then downloaded the app “Musical.ly” which was the name before TikTok and posted dance videos on there and from Dubsmash just for fun. I also was inspired by Ayo & Teo and Les Twins to dance as well. I started to gain more followers on musical.ly and rose to about 25K followers and the first time I ever got recognized in real life was after my 5th Grade graduation at Crackerbarrel from a girl that was a fan on my social media. I started producing dances on Tik Tok and produced one of the biggest trends on the app – the dance for “Just Wanna Rock” by Lil Uzi Vert. This dance has received close to 1M+ videos and propelled the song to the top of the charts and brought tremendous success to Lil Uzi Vert. I was also featured in Lil Uzi Vert’s music video and credited for producing the choreography that helped the song take over the world. My account has accumulated 795K+ followers & 29 million likes throughout my page. I have a brand called Famuchi, which I produced in collaboration with my family. The motto of the brand is that good energy is contagious. I aim to collaborate with major brands and artists and make a difference in the world through the talent and energy I bring to social media.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’d say that it has not always been a smooth road throughout my career. I took a break during the transition from musical.ly to TikTok because I thought that they completely took away what I initially came to Musical.ly for. After two and a half years I decided to download TikTok and start posting again. My account already had a jump start because I had 25k followers from musical.ly but it was hard trying to get the account back active. I started to consistently create content and get back into dancing and my account slowly started to grow again.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Since I’m still in high school, I can’t say I specialize in anything that requires a degree, but I spend most of my time learning and making dances, which led me to making videos where I can showcase my hard work and talent. I’m known for one of my own choreographed dances for the song “I just wanna rock” by Lil Uzi which got viral and ended up with me in the music video for the song.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I’d say my hard work and consistency and being able to learn dance moves and choreograph dances for people to enjoy and learn for themselves played a huge role in my success.
