Today we’d like to introduce you to Luccii Blanco.
Luccii, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I know I know everyone has a sad story. Well, ima save you the long pity of the struggle, the homelessness, the depression, suicidal thoughts, domestic violence and mental abuse since I was 15; just know I started from the bottom n now I’m here. I’m headed to the top can’t stop won’t stop I know I’m destined for greatness. Born Nahasia Slappy but better known as Luccii Blanco raised in Jersey, Luccii has always been a hustler. I consider myself a serial entrepreneur. I’m an artist, DJ, an actress, podcast host, stylist (hair, nails, lashes, makeup). I’ve been doin hair since I was 10 making money braiding hair in school. I moved to Atlanta in 2011 started braiding in a children’s salon and waitressing at the clubs. In 2015 I decided to get my cosmetology license.
In 2017, I jumped into the DJ world. Being an artist connected me with other major artists. I linked with a dope rapper who wanted a female DJ. Did a couple of shows it was fun But being a female DJ in an industry full of men who have been doing this for years people looked down n talked down on me. Not realizing I learned the skill in literally a week I knew how to scratch n blend it was shocking. It was fun but the money wasn’t flowing like it needed it to. So in 2018, I helped start n run a dump trucking company with my son’s father. Doing business with your lover can go left or right. That went left lol. In 2020 I got pregnant and opened a salon in Brookhaven in the middle of a pandemic and bought a home. It became a struggle mentally emotionally and physically. Being a new single mom, new home and trying to run a business alone with no support dealing with postpartum depression got the best of me in that moment. Once my lease was up I gave the salon up. I felt like giving up I was disappointed I felt like a failure. I started doing lashes and nails from home which limited my clientele. Running to get supplies for a client; I ran into my old nail tech who just started managing a new salon near me and needed workers. He asked me to come work for him which in my mind goin from owning a salon to working at one was moving backward.
But the hustle don’t stop n neither do bills. I was hesitant but I humbled myself. I went to work for at their shop for six months, stacked my money and learned a lot in the process in how to run a successful business. Fast forward to now I’m here Jan 2023 and in the process of looking for a new location for my beauty bar. I’m just getting started and nowhere near where I want to be but I’m headed in the right direction with a better mindset. I will have a salon this year. I am in a movie called “SUFFOCATED” Part 1 its out now on Tubi definitely go check it out. We just finished filming the prequel. Another independent film I starred in called “Coke Queen” will be out this year. I’m manifesting to be on Season 3 of BMF 😂 . Last but not least my music will be featured in both movies. Also, I want to continue with my Podcast. This year I’m not letting up! I’m goin for everything I want and more. I want to make sure my great-grandkids are set for life. For me, this is just the trailer of my story I’m just getting started.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely wasn’t a smooth ride. I dropped out of college moved to Atlanta and six months did living with my aunt she kicked me out for no reason which honestly hurt me realizing you can’t depend on no one not even family even when you did nothing to them. When I didn’t have a car I was walking milesssss to work I even had to walk down 285 from work in Dunwoody by perimeter mall to Cumberland mall it was dark my phone was dead I had on heels I took them off n walked barefooted crazy. All because a family member was with his girlfriend and didn’t feel like coming to get me and I didn’t have money for a cab. I lost a lot of clients working from home.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Well, I do everything you name it. In cosmetology, I specialize in lashes. In the entertainment industry, I rap and act. I’m proud of how versatile I am. I can do ANYTHING I put my mind to. What sets me apart from others is I live life with no regrets just lessons learned. I’m very outspoken and spontaneous. I’m loyal to a daily and still bounce back.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love Atlanta for the connections and opportunities it provides. The diversity it’s the black Hollywood. Atlanta is full of fun great food great nightlife vibes. Only city where we go to the strip club just for food aka cheetahs 😂. Now ima says this I’m bisexual so nothing against the LGBTQ community but there are a lot of on the down low men so it makes it hard for dating. Also, the traffic people in the south can’t drive sorry to say and the boot man is always booting someone’s car.
