Today we’d like to introduce you to Lyne Walke.
Hi Lyne, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Well, my story started at the age of 14. At 14 years old, I was catching the train into downtown Philly and buying fabric from Fabric Row in South Philly. I loved prints & patterns and would sketch out pants, skirts & tops. At 14, my dream was to open up my own cosmetic store in Center City, Philadelphia. So let’s fast forward, I’m a creative and passionate individual. I’m an artist by nature. I started developing my skills with makeup artistry during the time I was sketching.
During my college years, I would join the Fashion Guild and continue to express my creative skills while majoring in Accounting at Cheyney University. I eventually graduated Magnum Cum Laude from Cheyney and headed straight to Clark Atlanta University for my MBA in Marketing. After graduating Clark Atlanta, I put that dream of having my own cosmetic store on hold and decided to do Pharmaceutical Sales for Merck Pharmaceuticals. I thank God that he allowed me to work for such a prestigious company. I worked with Merck for 13years and climbed up the corporate latter pretty fast. With that said, I always felt like something was missing. And what was missing was my desire to be creative. Yes, I was successful but not fulfilled.
I decided to leave Merck and pursue my makeup artistry career. I started working in New York doing campaigns and photoshoots which eventually led me to New York Fashion Week. I’ve worked over 13 seasons doing runway makeup for New York Fashion Week. Eventually, my career in New York led me to London Fashion Week. I’ve been to London twice working over 80 shows. Doing runway makeup was such a humbling experience for me. But my desire for having my own never left. So I decided to start my own brand of cosmetics called Lyn’e Cosmetics and opened up LC Lash & Brow Bar. I started working out of a kiosk in the middle of Franklin Mills Mall. That kiosk was my turning point. From there I grew and grew and eventually after three unsuccessful attempts to move to larger locations throughout the years, finally, I succeeded and that store is currently up and running in Doylestown, Pa. It’s been a journey but a rewarding one. My drive and eagerness has never been more prevalent. In the midst of those years, I developed a Brow line which consists of a growth organic brow serum called Stimubrow which is currently sold on Amazon, in store, online and in beauty supply stores. In May of this year, I decided to open up a second location in Alpharetta, Ga. I’m truly blessed that God has allowed me to get this far. I remind myself daily of how far I’ve come and that this is just the beginning. So if you’re in the Alpharetta/Atlanta area, drop by and come meet us. We welcome you with open arms.
