Today we’d like to introduce you to Monèt Morris.

Hi Monèt, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
So I’ll start from basically when I was born. My mom was a master cosmetologist so you can say I was basically born into it, or as I would say “It’s in me, not on me”. Fast forward to 2019 I was in college at Southeastern University majoring in nursing STRESSED! Meanwhile, evenings after class I’m doing all my homegirl’s hair. After three long years of college, I sat and really thought about my passion, what drives me, and what actually makes me happy in life. Ultimately that was making women, beautiful specifically uplifting black women and enhancing natural hair care. Fast forward to the end of 2019 I decided to register at Paul Mitchell Esani and move to Atlanta Georgia and put everything I had into my purpose. From working three jobs in hair school trying to support myself to staying up all night completing hair cutting worksheets I was determined to get finish those 1500+ hours. After graduating, I saw that it was a need for natural hair care in the cosmetology community as a whole. Then started Monét Morris Styles on June 2nd, 2020 focusing on natural hair care. Since starting MMSTHEBRAND I’ve literally watched my life change overnight. I wake up every day feeling like I’m fulfilling my purpose.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road hasn’t been smooth at all to say the least, when starting MMS I had no clientele, no way to pay my bills, just hustle. From that point on I decided it was time to turn my hustle up. I made flyers, cards, pens, you name it and went to every mall in Georgia trying to promote my brand. That became a part of my everyday job. Ultimately, I believe word of mouth was the best promotion.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Master Cosmetologist specializing in Silk Press, Natural hair care, and Luxury Extension services. I’m known for giving the BEST silk press in Atlanta!

I believe what sets me apart from others stylist is my focus on natural hair care and the ability to have as we say in the hair industry growing hands. I believe that every woman who sits in my chair’s hair can and will be at its full potential if given the proper tools and that is where I come in at. I specialize in renewing my client’s hair.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I believe my mom has had a major role in the businesswoman, the entrepreneur, and the hustler I am today. My mom always pushed me to be better. There’s been times when she sat up with me all night making business plans, making a service price lists, and even putting up the first sign in my suite. she was always my #1 supporter and mentor.
