Today we’d like to introduce you to Tommie Young.
Hi Tommie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My story honestly started with just trying to become a better version of myself while balancing life, work, fatherhood, and responsibility. Before fitness became my purpose, I worked in different industries including home improvement and commercial driving. I’ve always been a hard worker, but deep down I knew I wanted to make a bigger impact on people’s lives.
Everything changed when I stepped into the fitness world. I started at Crunch Fitness as a brand ambassador, and over time I grew into becoming a personal trainer and group fitness instructor. Once I began leading classes, especially Ride Studio and HIIT-style workouts, I realized I had a gift for motivating people and bringing energy into a room. Seeing people gain confidence, lose weight, improve mentally, and believe in themselves again made me realize fitness was bigger than just workouts for me — it was purpose.
That passion led me to create Forever Young Fitness LLC. I wanted to build more than a fitness brand; I wanted to build a community. Forever Young Fitness is all about helping people become stronger physically and mentally while creating an environment where everyone feels welcomed, supported, and motivated no matter where they’re starting from.
A lot of what I do is community driven. I created events like “We Outside Wednesday: The Midweek Movement,” where people come together for walks, workouts, motivation, and positive energy outside of the gym. My goal has always been to make fitness accessible and show people that movement can help with confidence, stress, mental health, and overall quality of life.
I’m also passionate about impacting children and families. I wrote a children’s fitness book called “Let’s Move Together with Coach Young” to encourage kids to stay active, build healthy habits, and believe in themselves at an early age. Being a father myself inspires a lot of what I do because I want to leave a positive example not only for my children, but for my community as well.
Today, I continue building Forever Young Fitness through personal training, group fitness, community wellness events, motivational speaking, and creating opportunities to inspire people through health and fitness. My journey hasn’t been perfect, but every challenge helped shape who I am today. I truly believe consistency, discipline, and showing up for yourself can change your life, and that’s the message I try to give people every single day
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been balancing entrepreneurship, fatherhood, work, and building a brand from the ground up. There were times when I had to work long hours while still finding the energy to train clients, lead classes, and stay consistent with my own goals.
Another challenge was believing in myself enough to take the leap and fully pursue fitness and community wellness. Building Forever Young Fitness required patience, discipline, and consistency, especially during moments when support, resources, or recognition weren’t always there yet.
I’ve also learned that growth comes with setbacks, criticism, and sacrifices, but every obstacle helped shape my mindset and made me stronger. Those experiences taught me how important consistency, faith, and resilience really are, and that’s the same message I try to pour into others every day
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I currently work full-time as a CDL driver while also building my fitness career through Forever Young Fitness LLC and Crunch Fitness. At Crunch Fitness, I teach Ride Studio cycling classes, where I focus on bringing high energy, motivation, and an experience that pushes people mentally and physically.
Through Forever Young Fitness, I provide personal training, group fitness, and community wellness events focused on helping people improve physically and mentally through consistency, discipline, and positive energy. I’m proud of being able to balance multiple careers while continuing to grow a brand that impacts people in and outside of the gym.
What sets me apart is my relatability and passion for people. I understand what it’s like to work long hours while still trying to chase goals and stay healthy, so I try to inspire others by showing that fitness can fit into everyday life no matter your background or schedule.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I like most about my city is the sense of community and the potential it has. There are a lot of genuine people here who want to see others grow, support local businesses, and come together for positive things. That’s one of the reasons I enjoy creating fitness and wellness events it gives people an opportunity to connect, motivate each other, and build healthier lifestyles together.
What I like least is that sometimes people don’t realize how much opportunity and talent exists within the city. I think we could benefit from more community support, more focus on health and wellness, and more people working together to create positive change. At the same time, I believe that’s what makes the work I do even more meaningful.
