Check Out Talia Lewis ’s Story

Hi Talia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started back in high school, and it pretty much just took off from there. Of course, like anyone else, I procrastinated, I doubted myself, I lacked determination, I wasn’t motivated enough and didn’t take myself as seriously as I do today, but all of that happened for a reason. If I had rushed everything, I would have the wrong people around me. Even more, I would struggle to be weak-minded. I wouldn’t have room to grow. Sometimes we have to learn to enjoy the journey and learn along the way instead of trying to rush to our destination. I am where I am today because of faith, patience, & perseverance, facing obstacles that built me “Ford tough.” My kids are also my ultimate push to give them an even better life, especially a life they deserve, but I’m sure they will be thankful for anything because that’s how I want to raise them, learning to express gratitude through the good and the bad.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Omg no! It definitely had some ups and downs. I’m sure that sounds cliche, but it’s true! That’s the thing people tend to forget about the downs. They’re too worried about staying up, and sorry to tell ya, but life is all about balance! We need to have bad times just as much as we need to have good times. It’ll help us appreciate so much more! Some of the struggles I encountered on this journey was going broke- I had to figure out ways to be financially stable, not having enough money to provide for what I wanted, but instead of complaining about it, I made a way, I hustled, I invested in myself, I got fired from a job and hired myself! I’ve been in business for five years ever since. I’m thankful for that. Had I not got fired, I probably would have never taken that leap of faith and became an entrepreneur. It gave me a chance to take my acting career more seriously. It opened up doors for me because I was on MY time and not anyone else’s clock. I also lost some friends along the way, some that I considered sisters, but that’s just life.. those situations helped me realize you cannot trust everyone, and everyone isn’t allowed to make it to the top with you. Friendship breakups hurt worse, but it helps build you mentally. You still have to stay focused and be okay with not having everyone liking and loving you. Just dedicate that energy to the people who do love you! The struggle was real, but there’s always light at the end of the tunnel.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am the jack of all trades lol no, seriously, I like to dig my hands into any and everything and stick with what fits me and works best for me! I mean, you won’t know until you try, right? Well, I’m focusing most of my energy right now on becoming a License esthetician, an actress, and my kid’s clothing line. A few people know me for doing lash extensions and infamous skits with some cool people back home in Detroit. I also love to inspire people and speak life into them when things don’t seem to be going well. I love motivating and uplifting people. That’s why I created my non-profit organization, Face of a model, aka FOAM, which you can find out about later in this interview! Please check it out, ladies & gents! I host events that bring females together and create dope friend/sista ships! I am most proud of being a mother of two and staying on my grind without giving up! Trust me when I say you have your days when you wanna throw the towel in! I’m proud that I didn’t get too weak to let it all go! That’s seriously a big deal to me because a lot of people don’t know how REAL postpartum depression can be for us mothers or depression period, our thoughts can get the best of us and our feelings get in the way sometimes! So yes, I’m proud to have made it this far with my own hard work and dedication. God is good! If you’re a mom reading this, keep pushing. Your kids will thank you later!!! What sets me apart from others is my ability to want to stand out rather than fitting in.. it was always meant for me to create my own lane.

How do you think about happiness?
Life makes me happy, Food makes me happy, Acting makes me happy, Making other people happy makes me happy and shopping makes me happy! And of course my children and family. Why? Life makes me happy because it’s a blessing to be able to experience this energy. Food makes me happy because it’s FOOD it tastes so good. I even do happy food dances, lol. I’m a real-life foodie. Shopping makes me happy because it just puts my mind at ease and makes me stress-free, lol. Acting puts me in a great place; I feel complete when I’m acting rather I’m on that stage, in front of the camera.. or simply just at home rehearsing lines. It just brings me comfort and excitement, knowing that some people can feel emotions just based on me showing off my talent. I love giving back; I love to make people happy. It lights up my soul! When I make it big, I believe I’ll be able to change the world, at least some of it.. so much happiness to give out, lol. Explaining my happiness to my children, this interview will never end.
