Today we’d like to introduce you to LaToya Lang.
Hi LaToya, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Being a parent to a child with special needs was my motivation to start my business. I wanted to be available to my son, and in order to do so, I needed to be flexible. For years I was afraid and decided to step out on faith and believing God that I could do what he gifted me to do, which is to make people happy and feel beautiful through fashion. Genee’ (pronounced Jahnay) Stylz was birthed.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This entrepreneur journey is not easy and being able to stay motivated and consistent when you have a day, week, or month when you don’t make the sales you are expecting. Many people questioned my decision to start a business in the middle of a pandemic, but why not I believe there was no better time than now.
As you know, we’re big fans of Genee’ Stylz. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
Genee’ Stylz is not just a business but it is a ministry for me. I give back to my community and daily want to bring a smile and confidence to everyone I encounter, whether in person or online.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, my grandmother use to tell me I was wise beyond my years. I was one in the middle of a crowd and the loud noise. I always found a place where I could find peace to think and be creative. I never allowed what was going on around me to stop me from writing and creating.
