Conversations with Alicia The Band

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alicia The Band.

Alicia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Alicia the Band is a group of Tijuana natives who love to rock! The band is made up of Adrian on bass, Eduardo “Mascarita” on guitar and vocals, Oscar “Viejo Lobo” on drums, and Cosme on saxophone. Each member started their musical journey at a young age in Tijuana and San Diego. Through mutual musician friends, they eventually connected and in 2019 began rocking stages together in San Diego — and that’s how Alicia the Band was born. Later down the road, we kept adding new skills, people and experiences to this dream and that is when the team behind the scenes joined the band— our amazing light engineer, Christopher, and our band manager, Cindy, who keeps everything running smoothly.
Their goal is simple: to have everyone enjoy music as much as they do. They love connecting with their audience and creating a vibe of music, peace, unity, and dance. Alicia the Band is all about putting on a high-quality show with great energy and awesome music.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No journey is ever totally smooth, but we’ve always been ready to take on the challenge. Like most bands, we balance music with work, family, and everyday life, while also teaching ourselves the business side of things — booking shows, promoting ourselves, and learning what works along the way. Over time, this band has become a second family to us, and like any family, we’ve had to learn how to work through our ups and downs. Communication and patience have been key for us.

Another challenge has been being a cross-border band and finding where we fit in. We grew up surrounded by Mexican music, and playing in the United States pushed us to be more flexible and open to new styles. Blending our roots with new audiences hasn’t always been easy, but it’s helped shape our sound and who we are as a band. Every challenge has made us stronger and more confident in our identity.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Being a San Diego–based band, we are focused on blending our roots with the sound of where we are now. We mainly play covers across a mix of genres like classic rock, Spanish rock, reggae, ska, progressive rock, cumbia, and anything else that gets people moving and vibing with us.

We’re known for bringing the energy to bars and live venues, where connecting with the crowd really matters. We also play private events and can provide full sound and lighting services. What we’re most proud of is how far we’ve come by staying true to ourselves while learning and growing along the way. What makes us different is our cross-border background and versatility — we’re not tied to just one style or scene. We mix cultures, genres, and experiences to create shows that feel fun, real, and unforgettable.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
There are lots of ways people can work with us, collaborate with us, or support us — honestly, any way they’d like. Something as simple as sharing a photo or video of us and tagging us on social media helps more than people realize. Coming up to us after a show and letting us know how we did means a lot too.

People can also support us by suggesting new places they’d like to see us play, booking us for their special events, or recommending us to friends and family. At the end of the day, just showing up, vibing with us, and enjoying the music is the best support we could ask for. Knowing people appreciate the time, love, and effort we put into what we do is what keeps us going.
