Today we’d like to introduce you to Meechie J. Graham.
Hi Meechie J., we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The striving fashion influencer?
Growing up as the only boy sibling in my family, my mom always made sure we all looked good, but especially me. She never wanted me standing out in a bad way. She was still picking out and putting together my clothes all the way into middle school, and honestly I couldn’t stand it at first. But wanting her to stop is what pushed me to decide fashion for myself.
Looking back , I think that’s what naturally trained my eye for fashion early. I could picture outfits in my head before putting them on, and they’d somehow coordinate exactly as imagined.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Finding your style is never an easy road, even with coordination. Sometimes it fails, and sometimes it fails badly. But you still have to try it because it’s lingering in your head, regardless of what everyone else is telling you to think. That same reasoning that helps you fail is the same reasoning that will be used to succeed in finding your style too.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Right now, I mainly focus on fashion content and creative direction through social media. I’m still growing as a fashion influencer, but what I enjoy most is putting together looks that feel expressive, and natural to me instead of my focus being on trends. A lot of my content comes from instinct and visualization before I even put pieces on.
I’ve also been learning more about film and behind the scenes production, which has helped me understand storytelling, framing, presence, and how much detail really goes into creating strong visual content.
What I’m most proud of is developing my own creative eye over time and trusting it, even when it didn’t always make sense to other people at first. I think what separates me is that my style feels personal. I don’t really approach fashion just to fit into aesthetics or trends I approach it more like mood, expression and energy.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
You just have to network and keep going. What works for somebody else might not work for me, and what works for me might not work for the next person. That’s really all I can say.
