Daily Inspiration: Meet Andres “Dreco” Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andres “Dreco” Jones.

Hi Dreco, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My creativity started young, my first love is drawing and painting so my artistic side is something I was born with. Now I didn’t become so confident and loud about my gifts until I started modeling in college at Savannah State when I started pushing the artistic boundaries and stepping more into my authentic gifts. From there it’s been up hill of pushing myself, trying to be authentic to who I am and my gifts while also expanding my perspective, gifts and abilities.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not at all. I think the hardest thing is staying true to your dream when the world around you doesn’t reinforce that dream. In today’s time with money and clout being some of the things prioritized when it comes to supporting artists, over passion and skill, it takes away from the overall authenticity, production, message and execution. You got to stay true to your vision and yourself.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a multi-faceted creative. I do a lot of everything. I like to call myself an All- Star though, someone who excels professionally, socially and creatively. It was a way for me not only redefine success for me but also get a foundation on who I am and who I wanted to be in the future so that way I could stay on an authentic path. I am most proud of myself and my confidence with my gifts, getting the love and admiration from other people, my friends and family really warms my heart.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
In my industry, I truthfully believe authenticity is going to be a big shift in trend. It’s a little vague but I think that my generation is understanding the foundation of what art is and what’ it’s supposed to be: human expression. Part of human expression is having your own unique experiences that made you who you are. No one can be you except you so use your gifts, use your perspective to make a change in the world even if it’s only in one person.
