Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon White.
Hi Brandon, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Photography started as a personal interest and gradually became a serious creative pursuit for me. I began by photographing the places, people, and everyday moments around Hartwell and Hart County, Georgia. Over time, I developed a style that leans toward dramatic fine art, concert photography, landscapes, and moody scenes that might otherwise go unnoticed.
As my experience grew, I created my photography business, White Shadows Photo, and began sharing my work through exhibitions, publications, and my website. I have displayed work at the Hartwell Art Center, contributed photographs to Getty Images and The Hartwell Sun, and photographed musicians such as Eddie 9V, Zach Person, Bywater Call, and Paul McDonald.
One of the highlights of my journey was being interviewed about my photograph Echoes of Revolution. Moments like that have encouraged me to keep improving and to take my photography further. Today, I am continuing to build White Shadows Photo while documenting the character, history, music, and natural beauty of my community through my own artistic perspective.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not always been a smooth road. One of my biggest challenges has been balancing photography with the responsibilities of everyday life. Building White Shadows Photo takes time, patience, and a willingness to keep working even when opportunities or recognition do not come immediately.
I have also had to develop confidence in my work, learn the business side of photography, and find ways to stand out in a crowded industry. Equipment, travel, printing, and exhibition costs can add up quickly, especially for an independent photographer. There have been moments of disappointment and self-doubt, but each challenge has pushed me to improve.
I have learned that progress does not happen overnight. Staying consistent, forming relationships within my community, and remaining true to my artistic style have helped me move forward. The difficult parts of the journey have made every publication, exhibition, and opportunity feel even more meaningful.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am the photographer behind White Shadows Photo. I specialize in fine-art, concert, landscape, street, and documentary photography, with much of my work centered around Hartwell and Hart County, Georgia. I enjoy photographing everything from live musicians and historic landmarks to quiet rural scenes and dramatic moments in nature.
My work is known for its cinematic and moody style. I am often drawn to strong shadows, atmospheric lighting, unusual details, and places that hold a sense of history. My goal is not simply to document how something looks, but to create an image that carries a mood and tells a story.
I am especially proud of having my photography displayed at the Hartwell Art Center, contributing work to Getty Images and The Hartwell Sun, and photographing talented musicians such as Eddie 9V, Zach Person, Bywater Call, and Paul McDonald. I am also proud of Echoes of Revolution, which brought recognition and an opportunity to share the story behind my work.
What sets me apart is my connection to the subjects and communities I photograph. I try to notice the overlooked moments—the light on an old building, the energy of a live performance, or the character hidden within a familiar landscape—and present them in a way that feels timeless, personal, and distinctly my own.
What’s next?
My plans for the future are to continue growing White Shadows Photo and reaching a wider audience while staying connected to the community that inspires much of my work. I would like to pursue more concert photography, exhibitions, publications, and collaborations with musicians, artists, and local organizations.
One of my larger goals is to create a coffee-table book featuring Hart County, Georgia. I want it to preserve the area’s landscapes, history, landmarks, people, and character through photographs. I also hope to travel more, document new places, and keep developing my style as an artist.
More than anything, I look forward to seeing where photography takes me. I want to continue creating meaningful work, improving my craft, and building something lasting that people can connect with and remember.
