Today we’d like to introduce you to Jatavius (unclejaytee) Ponder
Hi Jatavius (unclejaytee), it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m Jatavius Ponder, also known as Unclejaytee on TikTok. Raised on the southside of Atlanta by my mother and grandmother, I was blessed to be surrounded by two strong women who taught me the values of faith, resilience, and the importance of community from a young age. These lessons are the foundation of who I am today.
As I grew older, I began to feel a deeper calling to ministry and content creation, though I wasn’t sure what that would look like at first. Over time, I embraced my role as a leader in the digital space, and through platforms like TikTok, where I now have a community of over 30K followers, I’ve been able to share my journey, encourage others, and speak truth into their lives. It’s been incredible to connect with so many people from all walks of life, using my voice to inspire, challenge, and help others grow in their own faith.
One of the most impactful things I’ve been a part of is The Hangouts ATL, a faith-based group I created to foster spiritual growth and build a community around Christ. The connections, conversations, and growth I’ve witnessed in this group have been a constant reminder of the power of unity and how much we need each other on our journeys of faith. It’s been amazing to see lives transformed and to know that God has been at work in all of it.
Now, I’m fully committed to expanding my ministry, diving deeper into my speaking journey, and using my platform to continue spreading the message of faith and love. It’s a season of growth and trust in God’s plan for my life, and I’m excited to see how He continues to use me to make an impact in the world.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road hasn’t been smooth, but it’s been full of growth and learning. One of the biggest challenges was stepping into my calling with confidence. There were moments of fear and uncertainty, especially when I felt torn between where I was and where God was calling me. Balancing a full-time job while building my ministry and platform also wasn’t easy, but it taught me the value of prioritizing what truly matters. There’s also been scrutiny, but it’s taught me to stay true to who I am. Through it all, I’ve learned that challenges are part of the journey, and trusting God’s timing makes all the difference.

I specialize in creating content that inspires, encourages, and brings comedic relief to others as they grow in their faith through my platform Unclejaytee on TikTok. I share messages about faith, personal growth, and living with purpose, all while staying real and transparent about my own journey. Mixing humor with deeper lessons is what sets me apart, making it easy for people to connect and engage in a community centered on love, grace, and support.
Alongside my ministry work, I also work as a counselor, offering guidance and emotional support to help people navigate life’s challenges from a faith-based perspective. My counseling and ministry work go hand-in-hand, focusing on healing, growth, and empowering others to live with purpose.
What I’m most proud of is being able to give back—whether it’s through my platform, my counseling work, or The Hangouts ATL, where I’ve seen lives transformed, spiritual growth happen, and people come together in a meaningful way. Giving back is at the heart of what I do, and it drives everything I create.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Finding a mentor and networking is about building authentic, mutually beneficial relationships. Be clear about your goals, engage with people who align with your values, and don’t hesitate to reach out. Offer value in return, whether through time, skills, or perspective. Stay consistent, patient, and respectful of others’ time. Social media can also be a great tool to connect with like-minded individuals who can help guide your journey.
