Daily Inspiration: Meet Turner Roberts

Today we’d like to introduce you to Turner Roberts.

Hi Turner, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My musical journey started at a young age at the piano. Performing at piano competitions and learning music theory, I earned a solid foundation of skills that helped my musical career. When I got to high school, I started making beats for one of my closest friends who was starting his rap career. He introduced me to the program “FL Studio” and from there I fell in love with the art of production and the process of making music. I continued my passion for music throughout college and began to sell my music online. Selling over thousands of beats online I slowly began to produce for bigger named artists. Continuing to build my catalog over the years, I have found that my passion does not solely lie in just beat making for other artists but also creating my own original songs. I enjoy having creative control in records, assisting in songwriting and even working on ways to market my music. This has led me to where I currently am today, creating my own songs and albums.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a difficult, unique and lonely journey for me. One of the main struggles I have faced along the way has been finding ways to keep my love for music without burning out since I work on music nearly everyday. Another challenge I would say is navigating an industry that is very different from other career paths. This has forced me to make decisions with sometimes little guidance or assistance on what should be done.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a full time musician and entrepreneur. I am most proud of my own bodies of work because I had full creative control and was able to get my sound exactly how I wanted it. As a producer today, I found myself lacking fulfillment with just trying to get placements because most times I was not able to have a voice in those record. Many beatmakers who are coming up or just starting out solely focus on trying to get a famous artist to rap over their beat. They are not always interested in trying to develop the quality of the sound and I think that is what is missing from today. That is where I believe I stand out and separate myself from many other producers/beatmakers in this industry. I don’t want to just get “Placements”, I really want to make songs sound as great as they can while also developing with artists.

What are your plans for the future?
My future plans are I want to continue to make music but not just from a producer standpoint but also as an artist. Over the past few years trying to solely pursue production, I found it very frustrating having to always wait for an artist to release music that entirely dictates my own success as a producer. I have had many experiences where songs I believed were dropping on an artist project never released and that does not always correlate to the effort that I put in. Because of this, I want to continue to put out my own songs that align with my creative image, whether that is producing the music or being an artist. I simply enjoy having control over what I’m putting out and when. Right now I am working on my first album that I plan to complete in 2026 which succeeds my debut EP “Mind of a Visionary”
