Today we’d like to introduce you to Abdoulaye Djire.
Hi Abdoulaye, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
This journey began at the very ending of graduating from Georgia State University, a few years ago. My friends and I were trying to celebrate finally being done with college. We searched on different websites and platforms for places we could go to enjoy ourselves with absolutely no luck. I thought to myself how have we lived in the same city for years, yet we are still struggling to find where to go for enjoyment?
What if there was a social networking platform that was truly interactive and allowed you to share one-of-a-kind locations or hidden gems? That was the birth of FIND! I then sat down with several friends, who had Computer Science backgrounds, spoke with industry experts, and networked at Hackathons. This eventually allowed me to have a working prototype and bring the right team together to build a software company around the platform.
To date, we having a growing community of thousands, both on the platform and on our social media pages. As the company evolves, we plan to be the first platform people open to know where to go in any given city.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road by any means. The life of a technology start-up is very difficult and has several unexpected variables. Thus far some of the struggles have been the search for funding. We have been bootstrapping the project up to this point, but now we are facing a wall where an injection of capital can allow us to further implement our plans.
As the company is shaping to what it needs to be a 3–6-month roadmap for example, can be drastically changed as time goes on due to variables you cannot control. We have been very nimble and able to adjust our plans according to hiccups we face and have no doubt we will get to our goal.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
FIND is known for discovering hidden gems through the FIND community sharing with each other locations they enjoy. What sets us apart is the quality of our content. You are truly able to see unique spots that were right under your nose you may have driven by dozens of times. Our users are also able to have full control of the platform only seeing places they truly care for.
What I am most proud about our brand is that it encompasses everything FIND is. Our brand is a breath of fresh air, new, unique, and vibrant. It ties together the pain point we have all experienced in a fun and visually appealing way.
What I want readers to know most about FIND is that as it evolves it will become more and more a part of our lives, to the point where we can’t live without it.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
The important lesson we learned from Covid-19 is adaptability. What we offer is connecting people to the places around them. When Covid-19 began we had to adjust to sharing socially distanced activities and locations and encouraging our users to do the same. The positives about Covid-19 is it allowed us to have more time to refine our project and get to know the community we cater to more.
