Today we’d like to introduce you to Jay Kim.
Hi Jay, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born in Florida, but Georgia is my home. I am a local small business owner. My love for cars is what started my interest for my career choice in having my own business. I initially began by attending local car shows and car meets. From there I would make decals from home, which was for about five years. What started with humble beginnings from home now has given me a storefront to work from. I have given my company 1000% of my efforts and feel that it shows in my work. As a result from the company itself, I have not only made close life-long friends and lots of connections via networking, but it’s also how I even met my wife. We just had our first child last year and we are excited to see what the future holds for us.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Having a business of your own will naturally come with challenges, much like anything you truly want in life. Over the years, I have experienced many hiccups and setbacks, which has given me an opportunity to step back and look to see where I can grow and better myself and the company. For example, without the corporate aspect, we had to generate our own working system to run smoothly. With many long nights and last-minute changes, we’ve learned to adapt quickly in any situation.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Sticknwrap?
At the shop, we offer signs, decals, and digital print. In addition, we also offer installations. While cars are what started the business, I’m always looking into other ventures that will help expand my business.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
As mentioned before, I’m always looking into ways to expand the company. The most creative opportunity we’ve had is to work with anime. For example, we were offered a chance to work as a vendor at MomoCon and worked with anime-themed show cars for the event.
