Exploring Life & Business with Tawana Tarbeart of HomeWell Care Services of Hiram

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tawana Tarbeart.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
After more than 20 years in executive leadership in the corporate sector, I made what I call a purposeful pivot—combining my experience in leadership, operations, and service excellence with a deeply personal mission to improve the quality of care for others.

Today, I am the Owner & CEO of HomeWell Care Services, a private home care agency dedicated to providing compassionate, personalized, non-medical care to seniors and individuals who want to age in place in their own homes. Our focus is not just on providing quality care, but on creating meaningful relationships, having the best skilled caregivers, and providing dependable support that provides families with peace of mind.

This purposeful pivot into home care was inspired by a very personal experience. When my mother suffered a stroke at the age of 84, our family experienced firsthand the challenges of navigating rehabilitation facilities and private in-home care. While I was grateful for the support, I was disappointed by the inconsistencies in care, lack of communication, compassion, and overall quality. I became an advocate—not only for my mother, but for families facing similar challenges.

As I researched the home care industry, different care models, and the needs of the aging population, I realized there was an opportunity to create something better. A place where families could experience service rooted in dignity, transparency, compassion, and excellence—the level of care I wanted for my own mother and that every family deserves.

We officially opened our doors in October 2025 and proudly serve seniors and families throughout Powder Springs, Dallas, Douglasville, Austell, Hiram, and surrounding communities.

For me, this business is more than a company—it is purpose-driven work. This transition into home care reflects my passion for people, service, and meaningful impact: helping individuals maintain independence, supporting families with trusted care, and building a values-driven organization committed to excellence.

We proudly serve the communities we live in and support every day.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting any new business comes with challenges. There have been many for me but I see them as opportunities to build something meaningful. One of the biggest challenges has been earning trust in the communities we serve in an industry where families are placing the care of a loved one in someone else’s hands. Thats why I meet every family coming to us seeking care. Another has been finding compassionate, dependable caregivers who align with our values and standards of care. I want to create a culture of excellence, compassion, and trust. Because my agency was inspired by my own experience with my mother after her stroke, I came into this industry committed to raising the standard of care through compassion, communication, and consistency. While entrepreneurship has brought a learning curve, and a whole new set of challenges, it has also been incredibly rewarding to build an organization rooted in purpose and service.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At HomeWell Care Services, we believe exceptional care begins with compassion, dignity, and genuine human connection. We are a private home care agency providing personalized, non-medical care that helps seniors and adults maintain independence, safety, and quality of life in the comfort of their own homes.

We proudly serve families throughout Powder Springs, Dallas, Douglasville, Austell, Hiram, and surrounding communities, offering customized care solutions that meet each client’s unique needs and circumstances. Our services include companionship, personal care assistance, medication reminders, respite care for family caregivers, dementia and Alzheimer’s support, post-rehabilitation support, transportation assistance, meal preparation, light housekeeping, and daily living support.

What sets us apart is our commitment to relationship-centered care. We understand that inviting someone into your home to care for a loved one is deeply personal, which is why we focus on thoughtful caregiver matching, individualized care plans, and consistent communication with families. We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach—every client deserves care that is tailored, respectful, and compassionate.

Our agency was born from personal experience. After navigating care for my own mother following her stroke, I saw firsthand the gaps families often face in communication, compassion, consistency, and advocacy. That experience shaped the foundation of our company and our commitment to delivering the kind of care we would want for our own loved ones.

What I am most proud of, brand-wise, is that we are building a culture of trust, excellence, and service. We want families to feel supported—not overwhelmed—when they come to us. We want caregivers to feel valued and empowered. And most importantly, we want every client to feel seen, respected, and cared for as an individual.

I want readers to know that home care is about so much more than assistance with daily tasks—it is about preserving dignity, independence, and peace of mind for both clients and their families. At HomeWell Care Services, our mission is simple: to provide compassionate care that truly feels personal.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
As an entrepreneur and home care agency owner, I believe growth is continuous, so I intentionally invest in resources that help me lead better, serve others well, and stay grounded in purpose.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People has been a favorite because it reinforces a lot of the principles I believe in about leadership, discipline, and intentionality. But the number one book I use to guide me in business and in life is the Holy Bible.

In home care specifically, I stay informed through senior care resources, caregiver education, and ongoing industry learning because the needs of seniors and families are always evolving.

I lean into my faith, reflection, and staying connected to my “why.” My personal experience caring for my mother continues to shape how I lead and reminds me that compassion, dignity, and human connection should always be at the center of what we do.
