Exploring Life & Business with Tonya Iverson of Your Personal Best Fitness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tonya Iverson.

Hi Tonya, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
My journey to becoming a health coach started about 18 years after I hired a personal trainer at Gold’s Gym to help me get the extra baby weight off. I didn’t have a clue how to do it and I was totally intimidated by the gym and all the fancy equipment. Hiring a personal trainer was one of the best decisions I ever made. I met and exceeding my weight loss goals, I gained lean muscle, developed healthier eating habits, and learned my way around the gym. Most importantly, I gained confidence in myself that I never had before. I was hooked on fitness and became inspired to help other women like me regain confidence and feel beautiful in their skin.

Eleven years later I am the proud owner, operator, and health coach of Your Personal Best Fitness. (YPB). I help the over-30 professional woman and mom lose weight, gain muscle, develop better eating habits so she can feel beautiful and confident in her skin. I coach women in-person, virtually, and online.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey has not always been smooth. When I first became a trainer in 2010, I knew I had a passion for health and fitness, but not necessarily the confidence to get out there and help people transform their lives. But I knew this is what I wanted to do, so I begin sharing with everyone that I knew that I had just become a certified personal trainer. Turns out, the people that I shared this with had more confidence in me than I had in myself. I immediately had 3 people hire me to train them one-on-one. I was also asked to lead group fitness classes at my church a few times a month. I was terrified and did not want to do it! But after much thought and prayer, I knew this was an opportunity I just couldn’t pass up. So, I went for it and the first class I taught had about 25 people show up. To say I was nervous and having “imposter syndrome” was putting it mildly. But I had my cheat note cards for reference, I brought energy and gave everyone a great, sweaty workout. It was a huge success! This group fitness program, called “Toning Your Temple” went on to last for another 4 years, with me being the lead instructor.

Despite my feelings of inadequacy and fear, I pushed past my comfort zone and instead tapped into the passion I had for teaching and inspiring people to better health and fitness. The takeaway is that success, confidence, and growth happen on the other side of fear. I’m so grateful that many people saw something in me and believed in me and that I also believed in myself.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am the proud owner, operator, and health coach with Your Personal Best Fitness, LLC, (YPB) founded in 2010. YPB Fitness specializes in helping the over 30 busy, working woman and mom lose weight, gain muscle and develop better eating habits so she can feel beautiful and confident in her skin. YPB Fitness offers one-on-one, virtual and online training. When someone becomes a client with YPB Fitness, it is more about just working out. I believe in helping women dig deep in finding their true WHY in getting healthy and fit. 99% of the time it’s much more than just the aesthetic or outer. The women I work with realize they have a true desire to work on their inner selves and the results they achieve on the outside are an amazing by-product.

What sets me apart from other coaches is that I have a compassionate progressive approach to fitness. This means I meet my clients wherever they are in their journeys and I compassionately walk alongside them to achieve their goals at a pace that is right for them. When a potential client is ready to work with me, we set up an initial consultation call, where we discuss their history, goals, challenges, and dreams. We then put a plan in motion to begin putting all those dreams into action.

I’m most proud that I’ve been able to help countless women after they’ve worked with me walk away confident that they have the tools to live their healthiest and best lives.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I love not only working with women in their health journeys but also collaborating with other like-minded professionals in the health and wellness space. I believe we all offer something very unique to the world that no one else has or can take away. So instead of competing with one another, we can find ways to support and uplift each other. I can be found on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and on my website, ypbfit.com.
