Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Bigby.
Hi Brittany, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hi everyone! My name is Brittany Finesse, I am a licensed Esthetician & Braider located in Greenville, SC. The CEO of Finessed Designs LLC. I started braiding as a child on my Cabbage patch dolls. My great-grandmother first taught me how to plait and then I just kept at it. By the time I was in middle school I was braiding a lot of my family, friends, & teammates hair. My mom was dropping me off to braid hair! In high school, I started Cosmetology school but decided I wanted to go to Coastal Carolina instead. I done hair my five years at the beach & gained lifelong friends, some still clients to this day. I graduated with my Psychology degree & decided I still wanted to do hair years later. My grandma Abraham was one of my biggest supporters, she always pushed me to charge what I’m worth. She never paid for a hairdo though, she always said this a lil tip lol. She always did me good & I enjoyed doing her hair back then. Braiding, facials & brows are truly my passion, I love to make others feel good! So first I started out with getting my braiders license. I got complacent after having them for two years because I wanted to offer more for my clients. I decided to go back to Cosmetology school but this time for Esthetics. So now I offer more beauty services & still do hair! It feels so good to have accomplished everything I’ve set out to do!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
My grandma got really sick and found out she had cancer. While she was sick, she always said “You need to stop playing and take it serious, you can be making some money not working for nobody” During this time I lived in Charlotte & was the Customer Relations Manager at State Farm. But when she passed away, I got depressed & moved back home to be closer to family & to get my mental together. I started doing hair out of my sister’s room at my mom’s house. It was new to me being back in Greenville but I developed pretty consistent clientele. Then when I decided to go back to Cosmetology school, it happened to be Covid-19. My seven months program turned into a year + worth of ups downs & headaches! State board was months behind and the school was so old they weren’t on top of paperwork etc. I literally had to call State board & have them call the school in order for me to get my exit paperwork for me to go to State board. Even though leading up was rough; testing was a breeze & I passed both Theory & Practical on the first run! All the trials were just a testament of what’s to come.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Some of the services I offer are: braids locs sew-ins, on the beauty side: facials, waxing, and strip mink lashes. I have a lot of younger clients starting at 4 that sets me apart from some. I am most proud of my brand for having returning clients over the years & offering products for my clients to maintain their hair & faces at home! I have a few families who started out with only one child now they have more kids & they all come to me! I try to be a reasonable, friendly & understanding stylist which also why!
What makes you happy?
Making others feel prettty, being around other’s genuine souls, date nights, getting cute, boxing, being with my family, and going to target.
