Hidden Gems: Meet Carolyn Roberson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carolyn Roberson.

Carolyn, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born and raised in Santa Cruz, California. I relocated to Atlanta in the Fall of 2000 to attend school. I worked in the Online Video Broadcast arena for over a decade while pursing my education at Kennesaw State University. After over 15 years in the OVP industry, I was laid off. I had no clue what to do or where to start. Client services and the video broadcast industry was all I knew. I applied for positions in my field, outside of my field, to no avail. I quickly figured out in Atlanta it’s not what you know, but who you know. If I wasn’t qualified, I was overqualified… I was discouraged to say the least. I was recently divorced, with two children to care for, and had no idea what the future would hold. After three years of some freelance consulting, I decided to try my hand at Real Estate. With almost 20 years of exceptional client services in the metropolitan Atlanta area, a slew of established relationships, I figured how tough could this be? Turns out things wouldn’t be as simple as I thought. After three failed attempts at the state Real Estate licensing exam, I finally passed!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
My friends always tell me how “lucky” I am that. I’m self-employed and how I get to make my own schedule; I just laugh… As much as I enjoy being an entrepreneur, it has been no walk in the park. There is a saying, if you don’t fish, you don’t eat! Early on I figured out you get back what you put in. I had to become disciplined and quickly. You have to treat your business the same way you treated the business of the companies that you use to work for. You have to have a daily schedule.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am professional Realtor® with nearly two decades of exceptional customer service in the metropolitan Atlanta area. I provide guidance and assistance to sellers and buyers in marketing and purchasing property for the right price under the best terms. I work very closely with my clients to determine their needs and clarify their financial abilities. I pride myself in building lifelong relationships, which extend far past the closing table. With a B.A in Business Management and Entrepreneurship from Kennesaw State University, coupled with years of experience in Client Relations I leverage my education, and expertise in the industry, to assist families in finding their dream home.

Any big plans?
I feel that the future is very bright. I am hopeful at some point in the near future to sit for the Broker exam and one day own my own firm. In the interim I will continue to work feverishly for my clients, searching high and low to find the perfect home for their family.
