Hidden Gems: Meet Felisha Bagsby and Sebrina Carstarphen of FS Luxxe Hair Boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Felisha Bagsby and Sebrina Carstarphen.

Hi Felisha and Sebrina, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
From a young girl, I’ve always had a love for hair and healthcare. I never knew my initial path would be healthcare, but God knew where I would make the most difference. Five years ago, I prayed and asked God would he allow me to do my second love, which was hair. Although upon asking for permission to venture out in the beauty industry, I also asked that he always keep my love for healthcare a priority. I didn’t realize at that time he would say no, and that there would be so many obstacles during this time frame. However, what I perceived as obstacles were God’s way of preparing me. It wasn’t my time. The obstacles I experienced were all personal. After five years of no from both my now partner Sebrina Carstarphen and GOD, I finally received a yes from both of them. With prayer and God on our side, we have been blessed not to experience any obstacles thus far. 

Felisha asked me numerous times in the past to partner with her on this venture. I was leery since this was something really new to me and I honestly did not have much interest in it. Felisha was very persistent, and the last time she asked me to partner with her, something said, “give it a try, what do you have to lose” and that is what I did. To date, that has turned out to be a great decision. FS Luxxe Hair Boutique has flourished beyond our wildest imagination. What we thought we would do as a side hustle is turning into so much more.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road to building the FS Luxxe Hair empire has been pretty smooth, with a couple of roadblocks and speed bumps along the way. The main struggles we ran into were finding the right vendors for our hair. Felisha and I spent numerous long nights until 2 and 3 am talking and negotiating with our vendors for the best quality hair for our customers. Felisha and I both believe in the saying “you get what you pay for,” so the quality of our products is always our top priority. We won’t sell anything that we wouldn’t wear or use ourselves. We have been blessed to navigate through these issues and take everything as a lesson learned. I have a full-time job, and Felisha runs her own healthcare business, so we stay super busy and sometimes we have challenges finding the family time. We know that all the hard work and dedication will be worth it in the end.

As you know, we’re big fans of FS Luxxe Hair Boutique. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
FS Luxxe Hair Boutique is a luxury hair company that sells custom wigs, hair extensions, and several additional hair care products. We also provide consultations for clients regarding hair wigs, extensions, and proper hair care. We most recently started working with alopecia patients and providing them with cranial prothesis wigs and our amazing growth elixir. We believe that every woman should feel beautiful and we make sure of that with our product offerings. When we are not growing and building FS Luxxe Hair Boutique, we are working our normal 9 to 5.

I’m the owner of Legacy Healthcare for 20 years and have had the opportunity to provide care to some of the world’s biggest celebrities, either in plastic surgery recovery or in a customized exclusive medical plan of care. What I am most proud of is the referrals of patients from some of the most prominent doctors in my hometown as well as the acclamation from clients that prove to me daily that I am doing exactly what I should be. Sebrina is a Human Resources Professional in the private sector and has worked in that field for over 15 years. She loves employment law and sets herself apart from others by staying a student of her craft and never quits learning.

What makes you happy?
Being able to tell our story, encourage others about the power of prayer, our families, and our friends make us very happy. We are just two girls who grew up with humble beginnings who found something that we love and want to share with others. Our love for luxurious things is one of the reasons we launched FS Luxxe Hair Boutique. We wanted to offer what we love to others. Increasing our customer’s self-confidence is our goal.
