Hidden Gems: Meet Khalil Kavon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Khalil Kavon.

Hi Khalil, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started my journey as an entrepreneurship at a very young age! I knew very early that I wanted to change the world in many ways and have my own global enterprise. I would dress up on dress down days at my school and call it “my office attire”. My journey really kicked into motion when I asked my mom & family to purchase me my first computer. I began to turn my school field trips and events into “mini-movies” and I would have a world premiere in our classroom. With the support of my late mother who was my cheerleader she saw that there was a zeal for business opportunity and she began to encourage me to want more out of life. I directed and filmed my first school commercial at the age of 11 which later got picked up to play nationally on channels like BET. From there, it inspired me to push forward and at 13 years old, I began working with Former NBA Player Rick Fox. In addition with working with Rick Fox, I was the Executive Producer for a weekly television show which included me directing, editing and putting together marketing commercials. With consistency and continuing to be passionate about business and creativity, I would later go on to work with a variety of record labels, television shows and Andy Hilfiger (Brother to Tommy Hilfiger) leading up to one of my well-known projects working with Nicki Minaj on her album “The Pinkprint” directing all of the marketing visuals and content. I am so grateful for that and to her for taking a chance on me at such a young age. I then continued creating amazing content with Keke Palmer and my work has been featured in MTV, GQ, Elle & Vogue Magazine. Today I am continuing to expand the Khalil Kavon Global Enterprises and within the next five years, I see multiple offices and locations around the world for us. With content creation becoming more and more powerful, I want Khalil Kavon Studios to be the go to for all marketing, content & advertising needs. I also see other successful businesses and ventures being launched from the Khalil Kavon Global Enterprises by 2030.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it has not been a smooth road previously. There has been days I wanted to quit, there has been days that I have doubted the business and wanted to shut down those are things sometimes as entrepreneurs and visionaries, we think we go through alone but, really we all have those days. Many people don’t understand that because you are an entrepreneur, you do a lot of thinking and you are the “go to” because you are the boss. My mom passed away back in 2015 in which I took very hard, my mom was a huge part of my life and business and so when the person that you really need during a time of grief to cheerlead you on is not there, it was a very hard process. Due to my mom’s passing, I winded up having to go to therapy to probably grieve, I thought just burying myself in business and work was going to fix it but, it didn’t. So I encourage anyone please go see a therapist and take care of your mental health especially my fellow bosses, entrepreneurs and creatives out there!

We’ve been impressed with Khalil Kavon Studios, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Khalil Kavon Studios is a video production company that helps professional businesses and brands take their visuals to the next level. I am the Chairman & CEO and we are known for our high-quality premium visual work. What sets us apart from others is that when we take on projects, they turn into our babies and we ensure that we are providing the proper tools to allow that project (baby) to grow healthy and successfully. As a CEO, I don’t tolerate mediocrity. I am proud brand-wise that we have stayed true to the brand and not try to be like others.

Any big plans?
As I mentioned before, I am looking forward to see The Khalil Kavon Global Enterprises expand and develop further than it is today. I am looking forward to our state of the art office facilities in which we plan to have creative spaces, production rooms, co-working spaces, video/photo studios, offices and an event center/auditorium to host events and premiere our productions. I am also looking forward to expanding our staff, team and projects by 2025!
