Today we’d like to introduce you to Melody Adeniyi-Taiwo.
Melody Adeniyi-Taiwo is the founder and CEO of Heels In Health, a business and lifestyle brand born out of a personal passion for self-improvement at any stage or age in life. The cornerstone of Heels In Health is fitness, nutrition and the development of healthy habits; — physically and mentally — and Melody embodies the lifestyle needed to achieve and maintain a fit body and mind. Growing up as a military brat, Melody visited several countries and lived in Germany for six years. Her extensive travels as a young girl and mixed ancestry have instilled a unique perspective of culture, evident by the ethnic tinge in her recipes and spices.
Now, Melody and her family reside in their bustling hometown of Chicago, which also inspires Melody’s cultural and culinary flare. Melody’s first major business venture was as co-owner of Iron Diva Physique, a health club where many clients reached their weight-loss and lifestyle goals. Melody herself struggled with severe obesity for several years, weighing as much as 298 pounds at one time. She had to revamp her lifestyle and prioritize self-care, healthy food choices and intense workout regimens, all of which helped Melody shed 156 pounds of fat. Along the way of her weight-loss journey, Melody was featured in People magazine, countless other articles, and on various social media platforms. When Melody’s not busy running Heels In Health, she focuses on her most crucial venture: her family. Today Heels In Health is still growing, working on optimal opportunities to be in retail stores nationwide!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has never been a smooth road. Anyone in business will tell you that. From start-up coast all from my personal savings, getting told no so many times, to the onset of Covid; it has been one cry after the other. What keeps me focused and the key to my success is consistency, integrity and passion!
We’ve been impressed with Heels In Health, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Heels In Health was founded in August of 2018. Inspired by popular West African culture and street foods such as Suya, Brand owner Melody Adeniyi-Taiwo decided to take her passion for food, health, and flavor to another level. Chi SuYa Spice our signature African exotic spice, created by CEO Melody Adeniyi-Taiwo in her very own kitchen, is our deliciously epicurean spice blend that elevates the taste, aroma and nutritious value of your food. Chi SuyA is made up of exotic herbs and spices and is an excellent dry rub spice for flavoring all kinds of meats, poultry, and seafood… Don’t expect Melody to divulge the Chi SuyA recipe, though… Those are family trade secrets. Our brand also carries an array of other exotic African spices such as Peri- Peri and Ethiopian Berber spice. We are offering catering options and volunteer our services to help abolish food deserts in impoverished Communities!
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory would be traveling the world with my parents, learning about different food and culture through the eyes of others. My background has taught me, family, is important and my favorite memories are with my family.
